Water Chemistry Levels19 May 2005 02:15 GMT15
Greetings and hallucinations!
I started a 29-gallon aquarium a month ago with a few zebra danios and a
couple of black tetras. I've been doing the water chemistry levels
religiously as it is going through the nitrogen cycle but the readings
Gravel vaccing and kuhli loaches?18 May 2005 01:39 GMT7
Should I be extra careful or worried about my kuhli loaches in one of my
tanks when I do gravel vaccing? I realized after my latest gravel vaccing
that I might wound or accidentally cut in half (killing it/them) kuhli
loach(es) if when I gravel vac, the edge of the gravel vac's ...
Total substrate change... the good, the bad, the ugly17 May 2005 21:09 GMT4
I made a major change to my 55 gallon established (cycled and stocked with
15 various fish) tonight, and wonder about potential serious changes to
water chemistry that I wonder if anyone can answer. The gravel I was using
in the tank was quite large, around 1/4" in diameter and I ...
Clown Loach Problem ?17 May 2005 10:17 GMT15
Recently purchased 2 clown loaches and introduced them to my tank.
After just a half hour they seemed to settle in happily and could be
seen swimming with a high level of energy.
Recently (as I hadn't really noticed upon purchase) I've spotted some
First death17 May 2005 09:35 GMT8
Of course it was bound to happen.  Elaine even warned me to brace
myself that my blue mickey mouse platy might not make it, but she had
been doing fine, eating and swimming, just a little less active than
the others.  She sure was pretty though and her fins were nice,
Guppy breeding questions17 May 2005 06:17 GMT8
I've never actually TRIED to breed guppies before - it has always just
happened in community tanks.  This time I bought a pair of bicolor red
delta show guppies at my local aquarium society from a well-respected
breeder intending to breed thim.

Help...Persistant Ich16 May 2005 18:42 GMT19
I'm new to this group but looking for some help. We seem to have a very
persistant case of Ich in our tank.
Established (3years) 130 litre tank, water conditions are all as they should
be, ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate around 10. Put in 9 new neons recently
100% Flourite or 50% Flourite with 50% black sand???16 May 2005 17:29 GMT8
The title says it all...  I planned on layering the two substrates but now
that I've washed the flourite and threw that in, I kinda like the look of
it!  Is all flourite any more beneficial than layering it?  Will the sand
keep the flourite from clouding?

Another unwell balloon molly15 May 2005 18:55 GMT4
I've got four small white balloon mollies in a ten-gallon planted tank
at 79 degrees F which has been running for a few weeks now.  I used a
good percentage of water from our main tank to start this one up, which
I think may have helped me so far avoid an ammonia or nitrite spike ...
Toad Fish15 May 2005 05:50 GMT20
I'm hoping this is the right group to ask in, I couldn't see any other that
might be appropriate.
I'm wodnering whether anyone can give me any insight in Toad Fish. We bought
2 from our local aquarium place.
Betta color change question15 May 2005 01:19 GMT1
I've a blue betta since last summer and he's up and about, apparently
healthy and eating. However, I noticed a red streak on his lower fin
that I don't remember being there before. My disease flow chart talks
about red streaks on the body being a sign of internal infection, but

Algae growing on Golden Orf14 May 2005 22:05 GMT14
Has anyone ever heard of algae growing on a fish? I've put three pictures
on my webspace of one of my Golden Orfs with just this problem down both
sides of the fish, and the fins. Any assistance in getting rid of this or
at least controlling it would be much appreciated.
