| Minerals | 09 May 2005 14:00 GMT | 5 |
To ensure that I have sufficient minerals in the soft tap water that I add to my aquarium, I've decided to start using Tropic Marin. My question is: Should I dose the aquarium or only the water that I add with water changes? Thanks - Dave

I recently purchased and albino apple snail from my LFS to put in my 90 gal planted tank. I have seen the snail 'dig' in my substrate after something however today when I got home I couldn't find him so after about 10 min of searching I could see a little patch of his shell behind ...

A few weeks ago got 2 Japanese shrimp for my 20 gallon tank (also have 3 golden barbs and 2 leopard danios - this was the tank I took over from a neighbor). They have done a lovely job of cleaning off the algae on the big piece

| Where are the old messages? | 07 May 2005 17:15 GMT | 5 |
Why are there no messages from before April 29 showing in the rec.aquaria groups? Some other groups I checked (such as alt.aquaria) go back farther. I even joined this group (whatever that means) because I thought that perhaps only members could see all the way back, but it

| Phantom Tetra - Tail Damage | 07 May 2005 01:33 GMT | 1 |
I have six phantom tetras in my community tank. I noticed yesterday that two of them have injuries to their tails. One is missing the complete black tip of the tail. We recently returned an agressive platy to our LFS ... could he have caused the injury? Will the tetras recover?

| The case of the disappearing Guppies | 06 May 2005 21:59 GMT | 3 |
Ok so the first one I put down to a very small nitrite spike caused by the amount of dead plant debris after the Ich treatment.....the second one I'm bewildered. Water quality is now good - 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, around 5 nitrate and back to it's normal pH of 7.5

| Ich - the aftermath and big clean up | 06 May 2005 21:51 GMT | 13 |
This isn't a cry for help although anybody's comments are welcome as ever
:-) I'm posting this more so that people can be prepared for what might happen after a very heavy treatment cycle in their community tank.... Ich is now gone so I've started the big clean up. First step was to ...

| rescue | 06 May 2005 21:48 GMT | 2 |
I was perusing the LFS freshwater section while I waited for the marine guy to help me. One of the girls was netting a Pangasius cat from one of the tanks. A Dempsey had gotten through a partition and tore him up pretty bad. Missing one eye, most fins as well. They were

| is this fungus? is this a female beta? | 05 May 2005 14:50 GMT | 5 |
I've posted recently(*) about a female beta my daughter got as a gift from a friend last month; just FYI, she was in a very small jar but I've got her a 3.5 galon hex tank with a heater, some plants and no filter (but I'm doing 20% water

| Removing LCD Thermometer | 05 May 2005 01:21 GMT | 6 |
I stuck an LCD thermometer on my Betta tank, but it was a dud. I should have realized when it did not "light up" that it was a dud, but I've never had one of these on a an aquarium before. So I purchased a replacement and tried to remove the old one. Well the outside layer peeled ...

I just found out that my local LFS has ghost shrimps and Newts. They are cute the newts. :) Anyway I am interested in the shrimp. I always wanted to have some kind of "lobster" in my tank. :)
