| Ever see this before? | 22 Jun 2005 11:03 GMT | 4 |
Hey fishy folks. On another newsgroup I belong to that is strictly Bettas, there's a member there who tells me that he has seen male Bettas show *vertical* barring for submission.

| Sorting out blackwater, softness and carbon | 22 Jun 2005 03:16 GMT | 1 |
I've got another question from the discus thread. After filtering over coconut fiber (much like peat but without the phosphates), adding blackwater extract, and removing the carbon from my filter to allow the mopani wood to stain the water, my water is definately brown tinted.

| Matt's tank - a sad day again :-( | 21 Jun 2005 21:25 GMT | 25 |
The female Cherry barb died today....the symptoms were different from before (my news server has deleted the post so I couldn't follow up on that one). For new readers we have now lost 8 out of the 9 fish in the 15gall tank for no determinable reason. I thought that it was a stuck ...

| ramshorn snails -- how to care for them? | 21 Jun 2005 16:49 GMT | 3 |
I got 4 ramshorn snails from someone and put them in my 15 gallon tank (2 neon tetras, 2 zebra danios, 2 pygmy cory catfish). They are happily slurpping up all the algae. I think they look kind of cool and they are fun to watch. I've been reading about them on the 'net.

| Need discus help | 21 Jun 2005 07:08 GMT | 12 |
I'm in an odd situation. I have a heavily planted 15 gallon tank and had room for a couple more fish - I broke my canopy and had two jumpers before I got it fixed. It was my birthday and BF wanted to buy me fish so I asked for a few cardinals. He came home with a few cardinals ...

| Identify a tetra | 21 Jun 2005 04:32 GMT | 2 |

| Where to buy a tank/stand in SF bay area? | 21 Jun 2005 04:13 GMT | 1 |
I want to buy a large tank and stand and am wondering what places have good prices and selection in the SF bay area. Is there any site people put used stuff up for sale other than craigslist?

| How to move to bigger tank? | 20 Jun 2005 21:17 GMT | 6 |
My 3 gallon tank with two platys finally shows no ammonia after about 9 weeks. So of course today I bought a new 20 gallon that I want to set up in the next couple of weeks. So, a couple of questions: Can these fish stand going thru an uncycled tank again so soon, or do

| re one fish a bully | 20 Jun 2005 19:19 GMT | 1 |
I had a similar problem with a discus. (S)he would chase the other discus in to a corner wouldn't even let it out to eat. I put it in with two large angels. He gets along fine with them. I got a couple more discus, one of them is a bit of a bully but no serious problems.

| New Municipal Water Sanitizer? | 20 Jun 2005 15:58 GMT | 1 |
I caught a bit on the news last night that some cities (Washington D.C. was mentioned) are changing the chemicals they use for sanitizing water. The reasoning was that chlorine may be dangerous in case of a terrorist attack. As 90+% of the population aren't aquarists, they didn't ...

| My tank is cycled! :-) | 20 Jun 2005 08:09 GMT | 1 |
I was so worried about my new tank with 10 cichlids. I was sure someone would die, but I was going to try as hard as possible to not let that happen. My water parameters are: ammonia = 0

| Otto compatibility | 19 Jun 2005 19:20 GMT | 8 |
Will Ottos cohabitate with Tiger Barbs or are they a bit too aggressive for the Otto? Also will the Ottos get along with my Yoyo Loach? If not, can I move the Loach in with my Betta?

| Companions for tinfoils | 19 Jun 2005 18:36 GMT | 6 |
In a previous post I mentioned moving all my small fish to another tank as the tinfoil's had destroyed all the plants (even the Java fern) and a few fish as well. (my fault - uninformed buy - didn't ask enough questions - anyway too late now)

| Tiny otto cat: I'm so sorry- what to do? | 18 Jun 2005 19:25 GMT | 10 |
I put three small otto cats into our main tank about a month ago and they immediately went about the business of cleaning the algae from all surfaces. Last week I found one dead, way in the back behind a decoration. It's such a hard-to-see spot and these guys are so small
