A fishy tale regarding a missing Pl*co18 Jun 2005 16:51 GMT5
Just thought I'd post this story away from all the doom and gloom
I guess it was just over a week ago I lost sight of my Snowball Pl*co in my
Malawi tank. To start with I just thought it was him up to his usual hiding
tricks....the number of caves in that tank are mind boggling. ...
Second tank18 Jun 2005 15:20 GMT5
I have a 1.2m tank which has been taken over by 4 tinfoil's.
I want to move the small fish to a .6m tank.
I used new gravel, filled the tank with water from the big tank, moved
plants across and filled the filter with washings from the established

Discus going to die.18 Jun 2005 11:54 GMT3
Afraid I'm going to lose my last discus. I've had him for around two years,
but in the last week or so he's become a recluse, whereas he was quite a
curious fish always coming up to the glass to see what was going on. Now
he's in hiding not eating fin clamped, my last discus who ...
moved guys to 30-gal tank.  18 Jun 2005 01:55 GMT14
I moved my guys from the 20-gallon to the 30-gallon this afternoon -
10 cichlids and a pleco. Boy were they pale by the time I netted
everyone and got them in the tank. I always feel like I really hurt
them too - the equivalent of a horse stepping on my foot.  Poor
Quiet Air Pump18 Jun 2005 00:56 GMT11
Are there any air pumps for 20 gallon aquariums that are known to be quiet?
UGF questions18 Jun 2005 00:09 GMT4
I inherited an under gravel filter with my cichlid tank.  I cleaned
it and set it up to run and it's going fine now -- run by a powerhead.
1.  How does it work?  I know the debris gets sucked down through
the gravel, pulled up a stand pipe and then spit out by the
Controlling tank temps in the summer18 Jun 2005 00:06 GMT35
After my recent experience with stuck heaters and broken LCD thermometers
I've just stuck internal thermometers on all of my tanks...and the temp
readings are getting worrying....way too high and we haven't even really
started the British summer (as much as we ever get)
Size of Emperor filters17 Jun 2005 14:20 GMT2
I am thinking of buying an Emperor Bio Wheel filter (400 or possibly 2
280s) but need to know the physical size of them 1st (need to make sure
it fits).  None of the LFS carry Marineland in my area so if I decide to
buy it it will be mailorder.  Can anyone supply me the outside
Advice re algae growth 17 Jun 2005 02:09 GMT7
I'm sure the experienced members might  have gone through this in
their own tanks at one time or another so any advice will probably be
"bang on" and just what I need.
My 29 g bow tank has been operation since Jan/05.  It's fully planted
"Orrco" Mini Hex Aquarium Kit:  how is it?17 Jun 2005 00:01 GMT5
This is the SMALLEST fish tank i've found on the web with a built in
filter system. It's a 1Gal. HEX so the foot-print must be pretty small.
Does anyone know how well it compares to the Eclipse 3 and Eclipse
Explorer?
corydoras courting?16 Jun 2005 18:59 GMT4
Two of my shy retiring corydoras have started frantically chasing each
other around the tank, nibbling at each other and swimming well up off
the bottom.  Either they've developed a mutual hatred, or they're
courting.  I couldn't find any thing online about this behavior.
questions about vacuuming gravel....16 Jun 2005 13:48 GMT3
Questions about vacuuming the gravel in a tank:
1. How often do you do it?
2. Do you take out the decorations in order to get at the gravel?
3. I always feel rushed when I'm changing water and vacuuming the
Electronic heaters not infalible16 Jun 2005 10:53 GMT18
What a day!  I really set the jinx lose by thinking how great it was
to have everything working so well: motorhome, fish tanks, computer,
etc.  That really invited disaster. On Sundays I backup important
files to a third "Backup" computer.  I starts automatic downloads at 5
