Three signs of addiction10 Jun 2005 20:05 GMT25
The first sign was re-building a tank (polished 10 sq.ft of glass and
built a jig to hold a gap for the silicone to cure in).  IMHO, anyone who
polishes aquarium glass is seriously masochistic, cheap and very addicted
to this hobby (me).
Snails appeared in my tank!10 Jun 2005 15:45 GMT2
it must have been when i planted some new plants, and a few weeks later
i've noticed three snails in my guppy tank o_O
could this snails be bad or good? they seem transparent-brown with
black stains...
Auto feed10 Jun 2005 11:26 GMT10
I tried an automatic food feeder, but it clogged up.  I knew I
couldn't relax if I tried to leave for few days.  Now I have 5 tanks
and wonder if there is equipment that is reliable that will adapt to
10, 29 and 75 gallon tanks.  I feed only flake food.  Netmax you said
Yoyo Loach foods10 Jun 2005 04:16 GMT16
I've been feeding the new crew a few dried Blood Worms, along with the
regular supply of algae they harvest. The Barbs (Tiger and Gold) seem to go
crazy for these things, but the Loach seems happy to munch on the algae. I
thought the Loach was supposed to prefer Blood Worms?
Water drips on rug10 Jun 2005 03:41 GMT27
I was taking a glass of juice to the dining room table for lunch that
was warming in the microwave, when I noticed drips of water in front
of my 29 gallon Jebo tank.  Remember, I panic first and investigate
next.
My new fish10 Jun 2005 01:56 GMT1
I got some new fishies today.  At first I wasn't sure what they were, the
lady just said some sort of danio.  I got home and did some checking.  They
are long finned zebra danios.  They are quite pretty.  I also got some flame
tetras to go along with them.  Quite a pretty bunch ...
I thought I did everything right??10 Jun 2005 01:36 GMT9
I have wrote here several times over the last few weeks... and I was taking
all the advice I could get, but something is wrong...
First question. does lighting affect the biological filter? Here is why.
I have a 29 gal tank, with gravel substrate, heater, HOB Aqua clear filter.
Figured out siphon starter....09 Jun 2005 16:40 GMT6
I am reporting that my vortex siphon starter does work better than "doesn't
work worth beans", actually it works great. You just pump air into the out
hose (of a canister filter), then pump air into the in hose (of a canister
filter), then pump air into the out hose (of the canister ...
Newbie -- intro & Q re: water parameters -- kinda long09 Jun 2005 12:33 GMT5
Hi.  I've been lurking for a week, so I thought I'd introduce
myself.  I have a 15-gallon community tank with 2 danios, 2 neon
tetras and two pygmy cories.  I LOVE my tank.
I set the tank up a year ago and I've had some troubles with fish
Danios attacking tetras?09 Jun 2005 03:40 GMT15
I've got 8 tetras (neon and cardinal) and I bought 8 long-fin zebra
danios last week under the impression that they are "very peaceful" as
every website I read and the woman at the lfs agreed with.  It seems
that they're attacking (and have killed 2) the tetras.  I haven't
backup power source for their aquarium08 Jun 2005 21:43 GMT6
does anyone have a backup power source for their aquarium? I imagin that
there are people that have expensive setups and cant risk losing what theyve
worked for just becuase of a circuit break or surge or even a black out. any
thoughts? name brands, technical info?? what ever comes ...
A question about draining a tank,...08 Jun 2005 10:51 GMT15
Can I just stick one end of a garden hose into a tank and drain them
that way [I have 7 tanks].  I'm asking this question because a while
back I seem to remember someone saying something about metal being toxic
to fish, and there is metal [copper/brass?] at either end of the hose.
Filter Media08 Jun 2005 08:15 GMT1
I am using an Emperor filter with Emperor Ready-To-Use filter cartridges.
According to the directions you should change them every two to four weeks.
Does anyone just rinse them out and us them for a longer period of time?
Water Source High in NItrates08 Jun 2005 03:57 GMT16
I've just started a small aquarium with/for my daughter.  It is a 10/12
gallon tank(Whisper outside the tank filter that uses Bio-Bags) stocked
so far with a Diamond Tetra, three Rasboras, a Chinese Algae Eater, and
a Plecostomas.
Rusty Cichlid comaptiblity question07 Jun 2005 22:22 GMT3
I had 3  Iodotropheus sprengerae  (Rusty Cichlids) in my Malawi tank.....two
have gone - one female I found, the male has just vanished...I guess there
must be some carnivores in the tank....I stripped it down...
The remaining female was very distressed and I expected a death
