Air-stone positioning07 Jun 2005 01:34 GMT2
I replaced my airstone (12" coarse, blue, pyramid-shaped) that was along the
rear of the tank with a 10" bubble curtain.
What a difference!
Placing the bubble curtain along the width of the right side of the tank
broken thermometer07 Jun 2005 00:07 GMT10
I just went to feed the fishies and noticed that the glass thermometer in
the tank was broken.  Will this cause any damage to the fish?  I got all the
glass out, but I don't know if the red stuff that tells the temp will harm
them?  Any ideas?  Thanks,  Sarah

Filter Media06 Jun 2005 08:57 GMT3
I am using an Emperor filter with Emperor Ready-To-Use filter cartridges.
According to the directions you should change them every two to four weeks.
Does anyone just rinse them out and us them for a longer period of time?
Not very buoyant molly05 Jun 2005 18:00 GMT15
After having got over a problem in which all of my white mollies were
too buoyant, I now have the complete opposite problem with one of those
mollies. This particular molly has no buoyancy whatsoever and has to
battle gravity to reach the water surface. She has lost her well ...

I finally got all the pond plants out of my "community tank" this week, so I
paid a visit to the LFS today.
Came home with 4 "Golden Rosy Barbs", 3 Tiger Barbs, a Yoyo Loach, 4
Cardinal Tetras and 4 Caboomba (sp?). I probably shouldn't have bought
quarantine after ich?04 Jun 2005 19:21 GMT10
this is a query in the aftermath of a sad story - a month or so ago I
bought five baby (very baby) botia striatas and two female dwarf
gouramis. They'd come from a shop with a common filter system (and I
only have one spare tank) so I kept all seven fish in the same tank to
Question about Cycling04 Jun 2005 18:49 GMT7
Okay, the SpongeBob tank is about 4 weeks old and the Danios are doing
fine. I feed the fish once a day and change the water about every 5
days (50%).
Testing the water the pH is fine, the amonia is very low (almost at 0)

brakish shrimp die in freshwater04 Jun 2005 18:19 GMT10
I just wanted to document that I killed a bunch of brakish shrimp
trying to acclimate them to freshwater. I feel bad.
I setup a drip line from an established tank, to slowly adjust the
salinity and pH. After letting this run for 16 hours and reducing the
Advice - Is it time to get an SAE?04 Jun 2005 11:22 GMT16
I have a 26g planted tank.  Short blackish algae has started to grow
on both the rocks and plants.  I have 3or 4 ottos and a clown pleco
but they don't seem to be doing the job (on the glass maybe).
SAEs I've had in the past turned into bullys but think it's time to

I have two orfe who have become problematic in my tank and
