I remember a thread fairly recently about pl*cos dying because of using a sandy substrate, and them ingesting the sand it the sand getting impacted. I never paid much attention to it because I was not using sand as a substrate...

| Betta questions | 03 Jun 2005 04:18 GMT | 20 |
I am going to be getting some young bettas next week. I have some questions. I have some small tanks ready for them with undergravel filters. I was told that bettas don't like water that moves, that they only like still water. Is that correct? Also, I know the males have to ...

| cultivating white worms | 03 Jun 2005 02:32 GMT | 1 |
I am looking for instructions on cultivating white worms. I'm actually trying this for finches but since I know many fish enthusiasts feed live foods, I was hoping someone could tell me. The internet was less than helpful.

| Another Betta in Trouble | 03 Jun 2005 01:55 GMT | 22 |
Our Betta at work hasn't been doing so well recently. For a year and a half he has been fine, eating well and swimming all over. For the last two weeks or so he has been looking funky. He tries to eat like he always has, swims right over to his pellets, but then he misses

| using pressurised pond filter and/or UV in tank | 02 Jun 2005 21:44 GMT | 4 |
As above. I was wondering what kind of pump/powerhead could be used ? Also, I know my pond UV is different from my tank UV in that the pond 9w is for green water, and my 15w tank UV is for pathogens but how do they differ

| gap in tank/stand | 02 Jun 2005 07:08 GMT | 5 |
I built a fish tank stand and theres a gap in one corner between the tank and stand, I can fit a penny in it and slide it about 3" each way, the water does lean towards that side of the tank slightly, so I'm thinking pull the tank off and put a layer of foam under the entire tank ...

| dwarf cichlids | 01 Jun 2005 21:58 GMT | 3 |
In looking at fish for my new tank, assuming I ever get the stand finished, I ran across "MacMaster's Dwarf Cichlid", or apistogramma macmasteri. According to the references, it's polygamous, relatively peaceful, and

| Black Ghost fish question | 01 Jun 2005 20:12 GMT | 7 |
My ghost stays up at the top of my tank alot now a days. He is eating alot. I feed him bloodworms ( and sinking shrimp pellets). I am wondering when enough is enough. He seems like he will just eat as much as I will feed him. And when I do stop, he just stays up there looking for ...

| More baby guppies! | 01 Jun 2005 19:18 GMT | 6 |
My guppies in my bedroom tank had babies this morning, I am looking forward to seeing them grow up. Normally I don't post about these things but for this particular tank it has been what seems like forever since this particular tank has had baby guppy fry in it - the mother took her ...

| Apple snails: how do I ship? | 01 Jun 2005 13:04 GMT | 2 |
I have some three-month old apple snails that a friend is interested in getting from me, but I need to ship them to her. How on earth does one go about shipping these little guys? Priority mail, I'm assuming, but what's the best spill-proof method for a group of five snails? ...

| Darting otocinclus | 01 Jun 2005 01:14 GMT | 2 |
When I do a water change on my 10 gallon tank, my Otocinclus dart around like crazy fish for the next day or two whenever I approach the tank. The guppies act perfectly normally. The pH of my tap and tank water are close and I match temps as well. My tap water contains ...
