Sick Betta - Slime on Fins31 Jul 2005 23:29 GMT7
My betta has what appears to be slime on his fins. It covers the lower parts
of fins, and it hangs in thin strands. There is no blood, the fins aren't
torn, its just the slime. I am treating him with BettaFix for a week now,
and the slime doesn't go away. Should I continue ...
Setting tanks up again...want to start off right31 Jul 2005 20:56 GMT7
I am setting up my tanks again after a long break for school, moving,
house-building, and other excuses. I have probably made about every newbie
mistake there is, and I don't care to repeat any. My break has been about 10
years, and I'm finding quite a few technology changes.
Can algae eaters overeat?30 Jul 2005 23:29 GMT2
I added an algae eater to my betta's tank and, man did that
algae disappear. There was quite a bit, including some red
algae which I read up on at thekrib. I got the algae eater
last Wednesday and the algae is nearly all gone. Can they
Going to be gone for two weeks?30 Jul 2005 03:10 GMT5
Hey folks, I happen to have a FishMate automatic feeder[1] that I've put
on top of my 25 gallon tank[2] in preparation for a two week vacation.
It's been a while since I've used it last, so I don't remember any
particular advantages or disadvantages. Anyone here have any definite
RODI water and conditioners29 Jul 2005 23:11 GMT6
I'd like to use RODI water in my tanks when I set them up again (I have to
have it anyway for the marine tank I'm setting up), but I'm not sure how I'd
condition the water...buffering, etc. Does anyone know what I need, or
better yet, done it?

http://photos.yahoo.com/hammerjoe and tell me what disease this fish
has and how I can treat it?
The fish acts normally, eats and looks otherwise fine, it's just those
Problem in tank: Need help!28 Jul 2005 16:50 GMT1
I have a 58G tank which has a not so common array of fish. I think...all was
working until a few days ago that two fish dissapear and one had bean beaten
so badly that it hardly had any fins.
I have not see any aggression during day time. I am suspecting something is
Need Turtle Doc28 Jul 2005 16:23 GMT2
I recently found a painted turtle that was slightly damaged.  Looks like
someone ran over just the corner of the shell.  He looks OK except for his
right eye is bulged out and milky.
Is there anything that can be done to prevent infection and heal the
DIY wet/dry Q.28 Jul 2005 03:08 GMT4
A quick question for those in the know...
I have noticed several trickle filters built out of a 10 gallon
aquarium and others in a similar fashion with the sump beside the
filter section. Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't that submerge all

My tank has developed a leak. It appears to coming from around the bottom

Does anyone know the best way to find and repair  the leak? The tank is a 55

Black Ghost Knife, mottled or fungus or ???26 Jul 2005 21:57 GMT1
My BGK has always been shy & little seen for the two years I've had
him, hanging out mostly in driftwood.
He was out today, which was unusual.  Also he has developed a whitish
mottling on his body.
Angle-swimming tetra evened out26 Jul 2005 21:39 GMT2
I posted a while back about a black neon tetra that was swimming at an
upward angle of 45 degrees for a while.  I wasn't over feeding, water
quality was good and I couldn't tell what the hell was going on.  He
looks to be much better, eating again and swimming more normally,
foam under aquarium - a stupid question26 Jul 2005 20:35 GMT12
Technically no question is stupid.  I know this, but for some reason
this one feels like it is.
I've recently acquired a 20 gallon tank.  I plan on placing foam
underneath it in order to help support the glass.  My question is
