| Yoyo Loach not himself | 21 Jul 2005 10:48 GMT | 4 |
My Yoyo Loach (Slinky) does not seem up to par. He seems to be hiding out a lot more (wedging himself into tight spaces) and looks a bit pale. Last night I found him between the heater and the glass. Tonight I couldn't find him at all, even though I moved everything. I finally ...

| Newbie question, Topfin Power Filter 30 | 21 Jul 2005 04:08 GMT | 1 |
My five year old son and I just filled our 29 gallon aquarium tonight and I installed the Topfin Power Filter 30 and Visi-Therm aquarium heater. All the instructions were rather straightforward to me except this one: Step 7 of the filter set-up states, "Fill your aquarium

Could I ask, how your going to get your section of glass [square rod ??] into the corners of the tank, with the Silicone seal in place. Or are you going to trim it off. Not a real bright idea. Why does the tank need bracing.

| Q: Canister filter inlet options | 20 Jul 2005 16:12 GMT | 2 |
All the canister filters that I have seen come with an inlet strainer that is meant to be installed fairly deep in the water, and the filtered effluent returns near the surface, preferably at the opposite end of the tank. Makes plenty of sense in terms of water movement.

| Water change frequency question | 19 Jul 2005 14:30 GMT | 8 |
My bettas are all in unfiltered 2.5 gallon tanks. How often would ya'll recommend I do a 100% water change? I've been doing it once a week in the past, but the fishkeeper at my LFS thought that was too often. So, what does everyone think?

I just happen to have find a female guppy in my tank with a strange shaped spine, it seems as if she had a little hump on her back and, from above, the spine doesn't not seem very straight, it seems more like an "S"... :(

| Q: Kill algae without killing bacteria on biowheel ? | 19 Jul 2005 01:17 GMT | 1 |
I have a well-functioning Marineland biowheel in a FW tank that seems to have developed a brush algae problem. I am selling the tank and filter system and am ready to take it down, but of course there is a lot of value in having a well established biological filter. The question ...

I use 1 tsp of salt per 5 gallons in my fresh water aquarium. Should I use a fresh water or salt water test kit? Is this enough salt to effect the readings? Thanks,
