CO2 kit17 Jul 2005 17:29 GMT6
I have a CO2 kit (yeast/sugar) recommended for a 20g tank.  I think
the LFS said that's the biggest (yeast/sugar kit) I could get without
adding lots of expensive equipment.  I have a 29g tank however.
I put in two new plants and they look awesome up against some of my
Black Neon Tetra Swimming Strangely17 Jul 2005 16:49 GMT2
I just noticed that one of my black neon tetras is swimming strangely.
I have 7 total, and the rest seem fine.  The tank water quality is good
as far as I can tell.. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite.  Is this a swim bladder
infection? The neon swims at a 45 degree angle upwards, and seems to
Question about Zebra Danio17 Jul 2005 16:06 GMT6
After quarantine I put some more Danio's into the tank. 5 now in a 20
gallon tank (1 died in quarantine). There are no other fish yet. For a
bit everything looked well but one of them is now starting to act
strange.
sick fish -- I need advice17 Jul 2005 05:30 GMT19
About a week ago I had a lab who wasn't looking good, so I stressed
everyone in the tank and put him in a hospital bucket.  I put him in
the main tank yesterday night.  He looks like he's doing just fine.  :-)
Yesterday for roll call, one of my blue fish was missing.  When I
tank capacities 17 Jul 2005 00:26 GMT6
Since I'm going to be setting up another tank (29gal) later this year,
I've been doing what I always do before starting a project, reading
everything I can get my hands on.
I've always heard that tank capacities for freshwater tropicals could be
DIY trickle filter16 Jul 2005 14:37 GMT3
I'm researching/designing my own wet/dry trickle filter. There seems to
be an abundance of info on the net but one thing still baffles me. How
is everyone getting a $15 powerhead to lift water from the filter back
into the top of the tank? I have tried several methods with the ...
Looking for a dealer for Pentair Aquatics Commercial Products16 Jul 2005 04:48 GMT2
Looking for a dealer for Pentair Aquatics Commercial Products.  In
Wisconsin?  Tried Drs Foster & Smith, Big Al's and a few other on-line
spots, and no commercial products.

3 Weeks into my new setup...16 Jul 2005 04:46 GMT11
I thought I would make my first of what I hope to be many posts on the
newsgroup.  A little history:  I just got into the hobby as a diversion
from what I do everyday, which is computers.  I own a computer store
and go home and play video games most nights so I needed something that
Ping Netmax re DIY CO216 Jul 2005 02:43 GMT2
I have just set up a 2L DIY but it last only 1 week or less.  What can
I do to prolong the activity?
All responses welcome of course.

How long can I expect the bacteria to survive in my filter without power?15 Jul 2005 21:11 GMT13
Came home this evening to find the temp in my main community tank a little
bit on the high side - this was the one that was the coolest in the last
blast of heat that we had.
Did a water change and then noticed that the outlet of my filter (Fluval 304
Juwel tank crossbar broken15 Jul 2005 18:52 GMT1
when my Rio 240 was delivered the crossbar was broken.
After phonecalls etc, I was compensated by way of a Juwel Rekord60 tank and
given a new crossbar, some super glue (this from Juwel) and stold just to
glue it.
I hate doing this15 Jul 2005 15:58 GMT11
but I need to euthanize of my peruvian angelfish. :(
He (she?) was found idling upside-down between some plants. His fins
look torn and both eyes cloudy. When I tried to trap him, he swam away,
but stayed hidden between plants. He hasn't eaten in two days and still
Fish gasping at surface after water change15 Jul 2005 12:47 GMT5
When I do a water change, usually about 30%, the fish (giant danios) spend
the next few hours gasping at the surface.  I'm wondering what's causing
this.  It's not the temp because I tried using temp adjusted water from
the sink.  Could it be chlorine in the water?  I didn't try ...
Angelfish lost balance14 Jul 2005 21:40 GMT18
I just found my 3 year old angelfish doing somersaults with the lights
turned off. I have noticed recently him doing strange stuff, like the
odd somersault, but now he's constantly rotating round trying to gain
balance. He looks completely healthy otherwise. Anyone have any ideas ...
What to do with fish?14 Jul 2005 12:26 GMT20
I am soon traveling to get married and honeymoon. I will be out around 2
weeks. I have a 58G tank which has bolivian rams as the main attractions.
If I am unable to find a friend to come everyday and feed them, what do you
suggest I do for feeding?
