| Completely ignorant newby | 10 Jul 2005 16:18 GMT | 2 |
I've never had an aquarium and I know little to nothing about aquariums, but I've decided that I want one. I'm hoping you folks will help me from time to time when I have questions or problems. Meanwhile, I've got myself a betta male in a one-gallon fishtank. He eats

| Too many fish -- Too few rocks | 10 Jul 2005 01:54 GMT | 9 |
Too many fish: I know my 30 gal tank is overstocked (10 cichlids and 1 pleco). How many fish should I have in a 30 gal? I have an empty 20 gal that I could use for "excess" cichlids but I'd rather set that tank up with

| Oto questions | 10 Jul 2005 01:21 GMT | 2 |
How fast do Otos grow? I bought three Otos roughly the same size about three weeks ago and two of them seem to be about twice as big now. I couldn't believe my eyes this morning, wow you guys got big. I did not think they were eating that much, but they must be doing something ...

| Tap water copper and fish stress? | 09 Jul 2005 19:27 GMT | 10 |
I don't know if anyone remembers, but I asked about darting otocinclus after water changes a while ago. I've now lost all of my otos in the tap water tanks but none in in the 1/2 RO tank. I suppose it could be pH and hardness, but I doubt it since the darting was always after ...

| What is the proper cleaning procedure for cleaning a soaped tank? | 09 Jul 2005 16:54 GMT | 7 |
Please no flames, I just need some advice. My 10 gallon fish tank has been contaminated with soap. Do I have to start all over with a new filter, new gravel, new heater, new tank? OR is there a way to somehow get the residue off so the tank stops killing fish?

| Stopped Cleaning The Gravel In My Aquarium?? | 09 Jul 2005 10:07 GMT | 1 |
A few months ago I started to change how often I clean the gravel in my aquarium. I originally cleaned it once a week, I then changed to once a month. which caused the phosphate level to rise from 1ppm to 2.5ppm. the nitrate level remained the same at 2ppm. I also do a 25% water ...

| Fw king crabs?? | 08 Jul 2005 19:16 GMT | 4 |
Does anyone have any experience with king crabs at all? I was on a trip last weekend and stopped on a local pet store and they had a king crab for sale. It looked interesting, with a big attitude and I just loved it. :)

| Danio with no "belly"? | 07 Jul 2005 04:56 GMT | 15 |
I started out my 25gal tank (now well established with some tetras and a pleco) with several Danios, and they've done well over the eight or so months that they've been in this tank. I believe these are classified as "Longfin Zebra Danios". All of them

| Don't bleach sponges! | 06 Jul 2005 02:57 GMT | 3 |
I learned something today (stan and kyle ring in) - don't bleach sponges! I had my sponge prefilter sitting in 10 parts water to 1 part bleach for a few (3 or 4) days and now I discovered that the sponge has disintegrated! I thought I would keep it in longer to make sure it would ...

| How sad is this???? :-) | 05 Jul 2005 19:25 GMT | 2 |
Watching a programme on the TV tonight...well hubby was - I was outside indulging in a cigarette when I get the call - "you've got to come and see this - there are 3 tanks in a room smaller than Matthew's room". So cig gets sacrificed and I sit there - this police drama thing...and ...
