Problems with electrical outages27 Aug 2005 11:53 GMT18
I live on the very southern end of Miami Beach, Florida [U.S.], where
everything from thunder storms and tornadoes, to full blown hurricanes,
like Hurricane Andrew, which struck here 13 years ago today, tend to
knock out our electricity.  What I need to know is, when we do have a
Cleaning debris in the filter26 Aug 2005 17:09 GMT2
I use to clean the filter every 2-3 weeks.
What I do is remove the hollow cylinders from it, and keep them over a
towel, while i wash the rest of the filter with water.
But i'm not sure if this is ok with the cylinders and the bacteria.
Unused Tank still good?26 Aug 2005 17:08 GMT5
A friend has a 5 gallon tank (Marineland with biowheel insert) that he
used to use for quarantine.  It has been sitting unused, filled with
sand, water and ornaments for many months.  There is a slight fish
smell coming from it and slight sandy scum on the top of the water.
Computerized Tank26 Aug 2005 15:37 GMT7
I am considering combining a couple of my hobbies, and installing a PC
under my tank to assist with the management of the tank. I am planning
the following;

What in the world is going on???
Maybe two weeks ago, we had lost a CL. My wife finally discovered him stuck
in a hole in a rock. Horrible death, I suspect.
Early last week I discovered a dead cory dead in the bottom of the tank. He
Siamese fighter tank...26 Aug 2005 09:43 GMT3
I've had a fighter before so I know that the males like to kill each
other...  and I've also read that you should only put a female in the
tank when the male is ready to breed (indicated by the bubble nest).
What I want to know is, if I have a 60L tank, and enough places for a
Black Gravel, Alkaline Water25 Aug 2005 05:01 GMT5
My ph seems to be a little higher than I'd like (It's about 8, but I'm
aiming for 7). The first thing they guy at my LFS said was "do you have
black gravel?".
I thought this was a strange question (this is the 1st time I have ever
Question about Filter25 Aug 2005 05:00 GMT3
Why don't aquarium kits tell you anything about filters other than how
to put them together. I have a Top Fin 20 that came with my 20G long
aquarium. It's about 2 months old now and everything seems to be going
well. All of my parameters are fine. I have 6 Zebra Danios, 2 Dwarf
Help ID algae...25 Aug 2005 00:27 GMT10
I'm hoping that someone can help me ID an algae I have so that I can work on
a proper solution.
The algae is green and grows on just about everything except the live plant
leaves.  It is difficult to scrape off the glass and I've also noticed that

The HOT (Hang on Tank) Magnum filter is more like a canister, right?  Can
you run it from ground level even though it is built to hang on tank?
