The return of a Platy24 Aug 2005 10:09 GMT6
Just had a suprise when looking in the Community Tank. A few weeks ago I had
a total disaster that wiped out most of my fish with the pump/filter failing
while I was on holiday.
After putting it right there was one Platy that was looking very unwell
Help! - I've been snailed24 Aug 2005 00:29 GMT6
I've got a heavily planted 10 gallon tank with about 11-12 inches of
fish in it (1 betta, 3 otos, 3 corys, 1 platy).  It's had snails for
some time, but I could keep them down to a few without too much trouble.
About two weeks ago I had a snail explosion.  They're everywhere.  A
Enough Filtration?23 Aug 2005 22:21 GMT20
AS I've said in a previous post, I am thinking of buying a 4ft tank. I
was looking at ebay and other second hand sources, but the prices they
are going for are putting me off as my LFS has a kit from Fluval that
is brand new and costs not much more. I had a friend who bought a
re: Help! I've been snailed23 Aug 2005 00:39 GMT2
Hiya lbg, we had a similar problem in a larger tank, 100 litre (approx 60
gallon) had snail explosion too. Clowns are big eaters as we found when we
purchased 2 and go quickly about cleaning   up the snails. They enjoy
themselves immensely! I'd suggest purchasing one for your ...
Recommendations for water movement in tank22 Aug 2005 23:54 GMT2
I have a 58G tank with a Penguin filter. I am using an airstone for water
movement.
This is a planted tank. What do you suggest so I have some water movement?
Is it needed?
Stocking Considerations22 Aug 2005 23:15 GMT17
I put some plants in last night. Got a good deal on some undersized
java ferns, a handfull of java moss, 3 small cryptos and something else
that I can't remember the name of. I am about to buy my cycling stock,
and am now thinking a handfull of danios may be the best option, as
A CAE that actually Es A?22 Aug 2005 22:22 GMT2
It seems as though I've had turbulent few days in cycling my new tank.
>From one CAE dying from what I honestly believe was hypoxia, to a thick
green cloud of bacterial bloom caused by naively lowering ph with
vinegar, to a growth of green/grey hair algae that literally grew
Suitable Companions for a Betta22 Aug 2005 16:13 GMT16
I have a Betta in a 20L tank (around 5UK gall) in the Kitchen. He shares
this tank with a rather stunted Platy but from what I have been thinking and
what I have just observed the time has come to move the Platy.
Mr Bluey (the Betta) was watching me working in the Kitchen when the ...
Need to redo planted tank22 Aug 2005 09:49 GMT2
I will have to redo my 58G tank due to dying of my plants and others covered
with algae.
What plants do you suggest for a 58G tank(froreground, midle ground,
background) and what quantities?
The Betta Bug22 Aug 2005 08:46 GMT3
Yep, I've been bitten. My bf sent flowers to me at the office on our
anniversary, I thought the "vase" looked a bit odd lol, turns out it was a
betta bowl. During a bad day at work - he popped by with a little guy,
Figaro, for me. Talk about a pick me up! After getting Figaro ...

cloudy new aquarium and low light21 Aug 2005 22:08 GMT3
I picked up a used aquarium, 75g with a penguin 330 filter, and a light hood
with two 20 watt fluorescent bulbs. I bought new bio wheels and filter media
as they were missing. I have two plastic buckets things in the back that are
empty though what should I put in those? I also ...
CLeaning live plants21 Aug 2005 19:39 GMT2
I am trying to make a solution to clean some new plants I have bought/will
buy.
Som einstructions on the web says to have 1 part bleach and 19 parts water.
What does this mean?
Betta nesting and sick?21 Aug 2005 17:07 GMT3
I have a betta in a 1/2 U.S. Gallon at work.
No heater, no filter.
I used to change 1/3 to 1/2 of the water every week or so. My fish
developed some white fuzzy cottony looking fungus on his body (towards
