Could a snail kill a fish??12 Aug 2005 20:57 GMT2
this seems a very strange thing, but i found the other day a a young
guppy with something little and brown on his gills (only in one side).
Just yesterday i found what seems to be the rest of this fish, its head
and its fins weren't there, and it was covered with snails (4 or 5),
cliffs and caves12 Aug 2005 01:16 GMT6
I may have bitten off more than I can chew today.  Found a pottery store
that was going out of business and bought 25 pounds of dark brown clay.
I figure if I can build cliffs for a model railroad, I ought to be able
to build them (and some caves) for an aquarium.  My wife has a ...

White fuzz on my mopani wood11 Aug 2005 09:48 GMT1
I have a 33g tank with some mopani wood as a centerpiece.  I have
noticed some white fuzz growing on certain parts of it.  I have checked
my ammonia and nitrite levels and they are both zero.  I don't have a
test kit for nitrate.  I also have noticed a small amount of brown and
submersible heaters11 Aug 2005 04:21 GMT13
I've been looking at submersible heaters.  I liked the Via Aqua titanium
one with the separate control, but after reading the reviews, the
love/hate ratio is about 50/50 so I'm scratching that one.
Everbody seems to like the VisiTherm  Stealth, except for the bright red
Sick Platy?11 Aug 2005 03:24 GMT6
I am a novice and started up a 10 gal tank about 3 weeks ago. I
initially got 4 zebra danios. About 5 days ago I got 2 male platies.
One of my platies developed a white ulcer-like sore on the side of his
head 2 days ago. I tested the ammonia then and it was quite high, so

my apologies.

Low flow pump with decent head?10 Aug 2005 18:29 GMT3
I'm looking for a reliable low flow pump (5 gph or less) with good head (3
feet or better). Does such a thing exist for a reasonable price?
lighting/filter mods10 Aug 2005 18:23 GMT12
Being frugal by nature and necessity, I've been thinking of ways to
lower the cost of setting up a 29H.  See what you think of the
following.
I have two AquaClear filters and one Duetto submersible filter in use
Water Softener10 Aug 2005 05:57 GMT7
What do you use to soften water?
Plus, what is the best way to measure or test the water hardness dH?
Thank you
fish with personality10 Aug 2005 05:56 GMT16
After reading about Gill's tragic story(all of us dread such
possibilities) I was interested in how he had become especially
attached to his Clown's.  Others agreed that the Clowns were special.
I have too small a tank(26g) for these beauties but was curious about
A sad end to my holiday10 Aug 2005 03:23 GMT28

quality - I already knew.....Losses are....
