bigalsonline.com review31 Oct 2005 15:03 GMT48
Just my experience for anyone thinking about buying:
Prices: Very good.  The Emporer 400 is no less than $76 in any LFS near
me, and they have it for $40.  I have seen other large differences.  My
own personal theory is that LFS's mark stuff up through the roof to stay
How long can you treat with antibiotics?31 Oct 2005 05:52 GMT2
My two platies that were showing what appeared to be flex didn't respond
very well to the 5-day program with Mardel products, but seemed to get a
lot better with the 5-days of Kanamycin.
It "appears" that the white mossy stuff is gone, but there are still white

metronidzole usage tips31 Oct 2005 00:13 GMT3
I have total of 6 discus, one of them looked like to have the HITH.
Very small air bubble like thing on his head. I bought some
metronidsole (250ml) and ready to use. I'v never used this thing
before.
What do you feed your fish?30 Oct 2005 23:57 GMT8
After reading the 'discus - possible HITH' thread, I was wondering what
others out there do to ensure a proper diet for their fish.
I buy and mix my foods.  I will include a quality general mix in (small
grain), freeze dried bloodworms and a spirulina based vegetable grain in my
Odd test results?30 Oct 2005 23:51 GMT2
I just set up a 55gal tank, adding about a half gallon of water from an
established tank. A few hours later, the ph tested about 7.2 and the
nitrite tested 0. Can that be right? I thought cycling took a couple of
weeks.

real symptoms.

PH and alk question30 Oct 2005 10:24 GMT15
The PH in my 20 gallon fw tank is 8.2 and the alk. is high. The tank is
unplanteed right now and there are five platys and four ghost shrimp in the
tank. I am still looking for some oto cats and peppered corys to add to the
tank. The tank has a Penguin 125 Biowheel filter, a heater ...
Off topic--I've been away for a while. = (   And a bit on topic too. = )30 Oct 2005 01:25 GMT5
Hi there fishy folks.
I've been offline for a while due to increased neck pain (re-ruptured
cervical disk) and then I had another test to see for 100% sure if it
had re-ruptured. It's called a Myleogram. They inject dye into your
All the crud goes up one end of the tank29 Oct 2005 15:17 GMT3
Just wondering if anyone else has this problem or knows how to deal with
it. The problem only appears to occur in one tank - the 4 foot

Fluval 4 Plus (put in to deal with an overstocking issue due to the
Who is picking on the betta?29 Oct 2005 05:20 GMT6
We have had the large tank up and running for a week and a half now,
and all has been fine and dandy.  The betta, who was the first occupant
of the new tank, this evening turned up with a small piece gone from
his tail.  We are wondering who it could be...

Cleaning an inherited tank, with occupants28 Oct 2005 23:00 GMT3
To All,
I've inherited a 20 gallon unplanted FW tank, plus occupants, from a
friend.  Unfortunately, I think he is leaving the hobby due to simple
over-feeding.  The simple gravel bed for his tank is in very rough shape
Sick new betta28 Oct 2005 22:10 GMT7
I got a new crowntail betta at a pretty good LFS about two weeks ago,
but I think he's sick.  He's in a two gallon hex established tank with a
jungle of fast-growing healthy plants.  Temps are 76F, no ammonia or
nitrite; nitrates fertilized to 5 ppm, pH 7.8, hard water.  50% ...
