| Dragonfly larvae in indoor tank? | 12 Oct 2005 11:32 GMT | 12 |
I've now pulled two dragonfly larvae out of my 10 gallon guppy tank! One a few months ago, and one this morning. I'm not pleased since I'm trying to breed the guppies for local shows and cash. For those that don't know, dragonfly larvae are predatory and eat small fish like ...

| Betta Gallon Bowl - need advice | 11 Oct 2005 19:01 GMT | 4 |
Hello all. I'm new to this group and relatively new to aquaria (well, I had some 10 gallons as a teenager but never understood why all the fish died. Except one really weird swordtail.) I'm slowly purchasing supplies for setting up a 55 gallon aquarium, and

| Bettas and Temp swings | 11 Oct 2005 17:55 GMT | 12 |
I'm sure this has been covered again and again, but maybe someone wouldn't mind giving me a quick answer on this one. We're considering to move a betta into a 1 or 2 gallon bowl. Do I have to supply a heater, or can betta's tolerate temp swings? I live in NJ, and the room can get ...

| Tank advice? | 11 Oct 2005 16:43 GMT | 6 |
(waves at those I know from the goldfish group) I have two tanks, a 30 gall with one 4" (2" of which is tail!) fantail goldfish. It's healthy, still not cycled but I'm working on that with Stability and hope that it'll get there. Sooner or later.

| plants dying | 10 Oct 2005 19:45 GMT | 3 |
I could use some advice... Early this spring I installed a 4 lamp high output T5 fixture over my simple 55gal fish and plant (anacharis) freshwater aquarium. Before this, plant growth had been mediocre at best. After hanging the lamp,

| Treating water during changes | 10 Oct 2005 10:18 GMT | 18 |
I was in one of the large fish stores yesterday, watching a video of the python system. I was curious about the fact that this requires you to add dechlorinator to the tank, rather than the water you're adding before it goes in.

| heating a 220gal tank | 09 Oct 2005 17:52 GMT | 3 |
this 220gal tank is 7' long, 2' deep. After reading NetMax's web page some I found this: --cut-- Having 2 smaller heaters (ie: 2 x 150W instead of one 300W) will limit

| Got the New Tank...working on plumbing | 09 Oct 2005 07:58 GMT | 10 |
Allright, As I stated in another thread we have made the move to a 75 gallon tank. We have the tank, stand, and all the accessories. Now comes the joy of putting it all together. In the final analysis the sale wasn't as good as we had been told, some Jr. fish sales person had

| Anyone ever accidentally demolished a Fluval inlet valve? | 09 Oct 2005 05:06 GMT | 3 |
Just done the maintenance/water change on my 200L community tank including cleaning the inlet valve for my Fluval 404. Put it back in the tank and turned the pump on but it suddenly stopped working...turned it off and started manually priming it. I was sitting on a little stool

| Betta update - welcome to Boris and Bob | 09 Oct 2005 01:26 GMT | 9 |
Ok I know it was quick but I've had a fishy day. Maintenance on the Community tank and finishing off the QT tank which this time didn't find it's way back to the box.....plant friendly substrate and loads of cuttings....in fact I still had to throw over quarter of a bucket full ...

Well after waiting the recomended period, getting all the levels to where they are supposed to be, buying a new heater and getting the water temp to where it needs to be and running a test with some Molly's, after 1 1/2 weeks this is where I am.

I was wondering, has anybody used any of the Gel-tek products? I'm looking now at the Ultra Cure BX and PX products from Drs Foster Smith. Does anybody have any experience using these to treat bacteria and parasite illnesses, respectively? I'm especially wondering about using
