Fish Recommendations ?24 Nov 2005 16:38 GMT10
I'm just getting into the world of aquarium hobby. I have purchased a 20
gallon tank, a Fluval 204, a heater, and gravel. I will be starting the tank
during the Christmas holidays since I will be able to monitor the tank for
proper cycling. I have read about "fishless cycling", ...
seeding a tank24 Nov 2005 04:35 GMT3
Today I was given a 10 gallon tank. I happened to have a penguin filter
laying around, so I set it up and seeded the tank with 2 cups of gravel and
a half coconut shell from my 20 gallon tank. I added water and Aqua Safe and
turned the filter on. (I will add a heater and light when ...
Okay. I think I'm addicted.24 Nov 2005 01:22 GMT9
At Wal-Mart, as a sort of Xmas present, they give us a 20% discount
on one item. I was thinking of using it to buy a new stereo. (My current
stereo is about 30 years old, at least.)
A lot of people use this discount to buy high-dollar items like TVs,
New Fish Room Question23 Nov 2005 18:58 GMT3
I'm slowly moving toward a fish room.  One question I can't seem to find
anywhere....how much space should I allow above tanks on each shelf/row of
tanks to get a net in to gather fish?
Thanks in advance
A zillion tiny ghost shrimp?23 Nov 2005 06:22 GMT12
I've noticed something in my tank that wasn't there before, and
I think they're "baby" ghost shrimp. Of course I sort of expected
this to happen since I'd recently added eight ghost shrimp to my
10-gallon tank, but I'm not at all prepared for it.
Crayfish?22 Nov 2005 23:35 GMT13
Our local Wal-Mart is now selling live crayfish. I was surprised
to see them in the tank at the store. How common is it to have
crayfish in one's aquarium?
One of the crayfish was dying. They've only been there for a couple
Hurt Betta and Goldfish , Help !!!22 Nov 2005 19:53 GMT37
I had a betta fish who was healthy and happy when I (stupidly) decide
that it would be ok to keep it together with a new goldfish in a tw
gallon tank. I thought the betta would only be aggressive towards othe
bettas. They were doing fine for almost a month and then when I woke u
How do you prevent water shock22 Nov 2005 19:29 GMT23
Hi, how do you prevent "water shock" introducing new fish to a tank? I
followed standard proceedure of adding new fish. Is there something
I've missed? I can't think of what else could have killed my fish.
Details: I have an established 30 gallon aquarium (running 5 years with
fluval issue22 Nov 2005 19:27 GMT10
I bought one of the early Fluval 204s, secondhand, about six years ago.
It's been a great filter, quiet, clean, reliable. But a few days ago
after a power outage, it didn't restart. I did the usual things to try
and get it going again, but it was quite dead. I ordered a ...
T8, T10, T12 bulbs22 Nov 2005 00:40 GMT5
I have some light bulbs labeled T12 and some T10 and see some in catalogs
listed as T8. What is the difference, they appear the same to me. And while
I'm at it, are 2 40watt (80w total) bulbs enough to support plants in a
90gal tank? Seems to keep the plastic ones alive :)
looking for online vendors20 Nov 2005 14:08 GMT3
I'm looking for some good reliable canadian online vendors of fish
related items in canada. I also am looking for some online plant venders
in canada.  NETMAX?

sorry, just a test.
Any one have any feedback about automatic feeders (Netmax)?19 Nov 2005 00:14 GMT9
I just thought I would do a tiny survey about you all's results with
automatic feeders, for fun. I myself have received proper operation
of my automatic feeder at all times since I elevated it 12 or so
inches above that tank's water's surface, and that's on a tank with a
clown loaches18 Nov 2005 11:20 GMT24
I at the moment have 2 clown loaches and have been reading that they
should be kept in at least a group of 3. they are about 2" long, should
I get 1 more. I have a 10 gal at the moment, untill I can afford a 30+
gal for them. They also share the tank with 3 glowlight tetras. Both ...
The joys of fish keeping18 Nov 2005 11:06 GMT7
What are you happiest moments with fish keeping, and what anoyes you
about fish keeping?
Simple question. My joys would be well when I got my first tank, second
when I found the loach, I watch them for a few minuets many times a day.
