danio stomach disease18 Nov 2005 09:48 GMT1
I have a school of Danios, and one of them has started to become
emaciated. The water levels are where they should be, and he has no
visible sores or anything on his outside. He has just stopped eating
and he is wasting away. It doesn't seem to  matter what type of food
Freshwater aquarium evolution17 Nov 2005 18:55 GMT8
I had been thinking myself about the future of the hobby, and Netmax'
foray into the world of hoods made me want to share my thoughts.
I suspect the next evolution in freshwater tanks will take a sizable
amount from the reef tank. In reef tanks, people try to complete an
New Betta and Angels17 Nov 2005 18:34 GMT4
I forgot to mention that before surgery I had to go hit the shops.
I got so lucky and found a lovely copper male Betta (Delta tail).
He's so sweet and changes color all the time. His coloring doesn't come
out well in photos, but I have a couple that did.
Another algae question17 Nov 2005 14:19 GMT16
So I took my big ol' pleco out of the 2.5 gallon tank and put him in the
10 gallon tank. He's doing well, I guess. Hard to tell because he spends
all his time inside the fake tree stump! :-(
Now I'm getting algae in my 2.5 gallon tanks. Each holds one female betta.
bleeding heart tetra---puffed up17 Nov 2005 05:50 GMT1
One of my bleeding heart tetras looks unusual.  The best way to
describe it is that it looks "puffed up".  It seems to be swimming
perfectly fine and there doesnt seem to be any other symptoms (it might
be breathing a bit more rapidly than the other fishes)
So what is your next project????16 Nov 2005 22:52 GMT24
Most of us, whether we dare share with our SO, once hooked are always
planning the next project, whether it be a tank upgrade, refurb of the
tank, a new tank or whatever.....
Mine currently are:-
Feeding shell dweller fry16 Nov 2005 22:48 GMT1
I noticed a shellie fry (N. brevis) at the front of my tank tonight, about 3
inches away from the parent's shell, which they are guarding  fiercely. At
the moment it is still within the protection zone, but if it wanders much
further I don't hold out much hope for it's chances as ...
Yoyo's16 Nov 2005 22:19 GMT11
Yes i'm talking about the loach not the toy :), My Yoyo's are a
interesting fish, they have almost doubled in size since I got them on
friday. They just don't stop looking for food and oviosly getting it.
They get FAT every night and I meen big buldging belly. I don't think

What is the strangest position anyone has seen a Clown Loach sleeping in?16 Nov 2005 19:24 GMT4
Any of us that keep or have kept Clown Loaches I guess are more than
familiar with the sleeping "Clown Loach Heap" which still tickles me
everytime I see them doing it - lol - my current CLs do it right at the
front of the tank which is great :-)
Cycling a tank with snails?16 Nov 2005 16:50 GMT3
See subject. Would it be possible to cycle a tank with snails? I
understand that different types of snails can have different types of
breathing methods (i.e. oxygen intake, as in gills/lungs). If
possible and practical maybe it would be great to grow a population
Koi-Lo16 Nov 2005 10:29 GMT4
All,
If someone gave you a glass of clear water and said it has poison in
it, but not fatal, it would just give you cramps, would you still drink
it?
Overfeeding worries.16 Nov 2005 02:38 GMT22
I have a new 10g tank with a sand bottom and I've found that everything
that sits on the sand is very obvious.
I've always heard that overfeeding your fish is a problem, and that you
shouldn't feed them more than what they can eat in a few minutes.
Heating requirements for a large tank15 Nov 2005 11:23 GMT7
I thought there was a thread a while back started by John, who wanted
recommendations for a heater in a large tank. But I googled and could not
find it.
The tank in question has a radius of 34" and a depth of 24", but I'll likely
Filter switch off at night?15 Nov 2005 11:10 GMT14
I have a tenant living downstairs complaining that she can hear the
filter at night and it's bothering her.  She sleeps directly below the
tank, and there is indeed a slight hummming.  Would I be able to switch
off the filter at night from 10.30pm to 6.30am, or would this be a
