to salt or not to salt ...10 Nov 2005 02:05 GMT7
Does anyone have an opinion on adding aquarium salt to a freshwater
setup? I’ve had a few professionals tell me that it’s a good idea. From
what they say it will decrees the chances of many freshwater diseases of
getting the chance to propagate.  If so, how much? 1 tablespoon per ...
Tank Doing Great...Snails totally out of control09 Nov 2005 10:41 GMT13
Thanks to a lot of people on this group my tank is doing great. Havent lost
a fish since I started following EVERY recomendation from the group. Water
is crystal clear and all levels are darn near perfect. One thing I didnt
listen to was about the snails. I let the one I saw hang ...
Digital Camcorder for Aquaria Videos?09 Nov 2005 04:49 GMT1
Can anyone recommend a digital camcorder that will take good close-up
video of my fish? I've been reading reviews but the average camcorder
user doesn't record aquaria. I think $400 is my limit. Less is more.
Thanks!

Well my older lady friend jeannette is finally going to get her aquarium

She will believe me over lfs employees but I promised her I would ask the
following questions here with you experts (and non-experts) ...

Pleco question08 Nov 2005 17:12 GMT3
Since plecos don't really swim around much, do they need the
same room that other fish need. I have a pleco that has grown
to about 5" but he's in a 2.5 gallon tank. Should I move him to
the 10 gallon tank. (I haven't yet because there's already an
What is the Plec doing?08 Nov 2005 02:41 GMT6
In our 75 gal tank, we have one plec, Bigfoot.  Occasionally when he is
cleaning, he will dart up to the surface and back down for no appearant
reason.  It almost looks like he is going for a breath, but he does it
so fast I just don't know what to think.
Mystery Parasite08 Nov 2005 01:07 GMT3
Hello everyone!  I hope you can help me.  I am a long-time fishkeepe
with a startling new problem.  I have somehow aquired a mysteriou
parasite that resembles ick but drops off everytime I go for

Inadequate filtration?07 Nov 2005 16:40 GMT1
I've run a HOB filter ( 2 filter bags, 2 sponges) in my 55 gallon for
several years. I am setting up a small tank for someone by runnig his
sponge filter in my tank for a couple weeks to minimize the cycle
time.... The sponge contained more of a biological mass than I'd
Fighting the Mighty Hydra in the Aquarium07 Nov 2005 10:04 GMT2
The freshwater hydra is quickly infesting my apistogramma tank.  I am well
aware with this tiny beast's regenerative and procreative powers.  I have
done a fair amount of digging around on how to destroy these creatures, and
the only reliable method appears to be treatment with a ...
Added Tetras to Betta Tank - Didn't see THAT one coming!06 Nov 2005 14:15 GMT5
I have been posting about my lonely betta in the hot Eclipse 5 corner tank I
got recently.  I decided to get 3 neon tetras to go with the betta and see
if they fought.  I also got a compact fluorescent light and the temp dropped
to 80 from about 84.
Breeding Rasboras?05 Nov 2005 19:25 GMT18
All,
I'm hoping someone knows a bit about Rasboras.  On 05 Oct. of this
year, I got 3 Harlequin Rasboras.  From pictures and descriptions on
the net, I figured I had three females.  Two are the same shape, but
Off Topic, Aquabid05 Nov 2005 17:06 GMT6
Anybody access Aquabid.com using IE?  Mine no longer works, I done the
cleanup things I know of and it's still bad.
Foxfire works, but not IE.  Weird.
Giant Gouramis05 Nov 2005 15:11 GMT11
Are Giant Gouramis very common? Has anyone ever seen any for sale in
there local fish stores? I would sure enjoy one in my tank.
ICH!05 Nov 2005 00:58 GMT4
My four otocinclus have done wonders with my crop of algae, helped by a
bucket full of anacharis--but they brought Ich with them.
They developed 1-2 spots each their first few days in the tank, cysts
dropped off but apparently the steady diet of fresh healthy algae made
