Moving aquaria notes05 Nov 2005 00:52 GMT2
I've been lurking around here for the past several months and learning
quite a bit. We recently bought a new house about 8 miles from our
current location. Yesterday I began moving our/my freshwater aquariums
to the new house.
Clown Loach Ich Treatment Options04 Nov 2005 14:08 GMT19
I bought 4 clown loaches 3 weeks ago and they developed Ich 2 weeks ago.
Upon seeing the spots, I immediately began treating with Rid Ich (formalin,
malachite green).  I have been treating every other day at slightly less
than the recommended 1 tsp/10gal dosage.  The loaches do ...

I have breaking news about one of my tanks and some business to take care of

me. In my opinion I take very good care of my pet fish and keep their
homes/home clean in my opinion. I have been running into a ...

Massive fish loss - help!!!03 Nov 2005 05:47 GMT5
I set up my 70 gallon tank in May of this year.
Previous to that I've had a few smaller tanks, and have been
taking care of exotic fish for about 4 years now.
The 70 gallon is a freshwater community tank with
Lost the discus03 Nov 2005 05:37 GMT5
I lost poor little Flower the discus.  He never did start eating again
and the metronidazole everyone recommended must have been too little too
late.  He died on the fifth day of treatment.  Ah, well.  It's not like
I had an adequate tank for him anyway.
Female Bettas - may sound like a "dumb question"03 Nov 2005 05:33 GMT2
That's okay. I'm new at this and don't mind asking the dumb question
now and then.
I have three female bettas (in three separate tanks). They're all looking
kinda fat! Fatter than they were when I bought them a couple of months

BGA outbreak03 Nov 2005 04:04 GMT5
I've got an outbreak of dark green slime, which I assume is BGA. I think
this is what has been killing my Sword. I didn't realize how bad it was
until I pruned the Ludwiga today, the leaves are covered. Hopefully it will
recover OK, the coated leaves look a little sick.
A Sceptic02 Nov 2005 18:13 GMT3
I recently set up several tanks, getting my house back to order.
In four of them I used "Flourite" for substrate, about the same fish
load, similar plants, anubias, vallisnaria and a handfull of egeria in
each.  similar lighting in all.
Upgrading the tank - what to do02 Nov 2005 12:13 GMT11
Ok,,Yippee....it's a done deal that I can upgrade my 47.5 community tank
in the conservatory...as long as I sell my car which I have to do anyway
as we seem to have a surplus of vehicles at the moment....so the budget
will be around £1000 all told (but less if I can get away with ...
NEW? way to add CO201 Nov 2005 16:50 GMT9
Has anyone heard of controlling the water's pH/CO2 level by controlling
the CO2 concentration *above* the water surface rather than by pumping it
through the tank's water in little bubbles?
Aeration and turbulence causes the dissolved gases in the water to

Hello all. New to Aquariums (Had one as a kid 35 years ago) and new to this

2 bosmani rainbows
Betta missing a piece of tail01 Nov 2005 02:03 GMT20
Hi.  My new betta, which is in a tank alone, is missing a chunk out of his
tail fin.  I wouldn't think he could bite his own fin, but is this likely
the cause?
thanks,
