Removing Chloramine18 Dec 2005 16:00 GMT14
For water changes, I let the tap water stand for about a week before
using it.  I prefer to avoid chemical de-chlorinating agents if
possible.
I'm sure this gives chlorine plenty of time to dissipate, but what
Can Beta fish be mad a you?18 Dec 2005 15:20 GMT15
Strange question I am sure, I know that some  pets get upset when the
owner goes away for a while, or drops them off at the vets, do fish get
mad?
Cycling a 29g tank18 Dec 2005 15:02 GMT32
I haven't had an aquarium since I was a kid but for the past 6 months
I have been reading the newsgroups and various books on tropical fish
and got the itch to get a tank going again.  There was a 29 gallon
tank with stand at the LFS by my house that I really liked.  My wife

typical algae waffers and its much cheaper as well. I can get 12

Silly Rasboras!16 Dec 2005 19:26 GMT6
So, every now and then I need to top off the water in my tank (which
has rasboras, neons and otos).  As it's just a 10g, I do this with a
cup.  And my silly little rasboras love being where the water is
poured in!  As I don't want to "hit" them with the water, I have to
What is the best way to remove/replace gravel?16 Dec 2005 01:13 GMT9
After so many trys, I finally took NetMax's advise and tested my
gravel with PH down. Sure enough, some of them had reactions to it. I
guess that's why I could not bring down my PH level no matter what I
do. Thanks Max
Miss you guys.... Be back soon...15 Dec 2005 19:33 GMT1
Hey all, it's been a while.  Lots going on, school, work, life, etc...
Recently moved, and had a very fun (sarcastic) time moving the tanks of
fish and geckos, and now the turtle... but that's another board
altogether...
A few questions on Clown Loaches, Snails and drinking fish tank water...by accident I mean?15 Dec 2005 14:33 GMT20
1. I had asked about my snail problem a while back and a few people
recomended Clown Loaches. The Petsmart recomended against them for a
community tank because they are agressive. Everyone who responded here
disagreed and said go ahead with the clown loaches, so I am. SO my question

freezer and the whole block of frozen bloodworms is always too much for
the fish in your tank?so i get a penknife or something and cut the

Eheim filter media options?15 Dec 2005 00:53 GMT21
I just got an Eheim 2026 for the plant tank to replace the AquaClear 500. I
want to use a spray bar and run a UV filter.
I've always kept a bag of Aragonite in the AC500 to keep my KH/PH stable as
I inject CO2 based on the PH. But I'm wondering about the best place to add

how to reduce water flow for betta14 Dec 2005 18:03 GMT9
Just bought a 5.5g to replace the 3g. I have an albino cory and one
betta to put in.
Q#1.  Can the waterflow in a Penquin 100 be reduced?  I think the
output might be a bit much for the betta.
Noisy Aquaclear14 Dec 2005 04:44 GMT3
Have an Aquaclear 300 on my 50g.  Does a good job but it's a little
too noisy for the location (impeller buzz/rattle, not water noise).
Cleaned it thoroughly & put in a new impeller, no change.  Since I got
the filter used, I don't know if it was ever (virtually) silent like
