fish disaster13 Dec 2005 03:41 GMT2
A few weeks ago we noted the out break of a fungal infection in our 4' -190lt
tropical setup. The tank is/was stocked with mostly S American a mix of tetras
and 5 corys, 4 large clown loaches for snail control and a solitary
bristlenose catfish. We checked our ancient copy of ...
Buying A New Tank13 Dec 2005 01:39 GMT37
I am starting into the aquarium hobby and was thinking of getting a 20
gallon tank to start off with. However, I have no idea what I need and
what quantities to get.
I will need to get a filter, of course. There are several models, and
What are your major bug bears about you LFS12 Dec 2005 16:55 GMT22
OK, some of you might have been following certain threads, plus also it
has become apparent to me that we all have a different quality of
service and care depending on where we live. Most of us know it is
wrong...and most of us feel powerless to put it right....so for a

another tank, but not MTS!12 Dec 2005 01:41 GMT3
After I set up the 20G tank, I briefly thought about keeping the
Eclipse 3 going to put a betta in.  I decided against it though, it
would need a heater, no place to put it, etc.  But when the two
platies got the mouth fungus I had to set up the 3G to use as a
Algee again again and others stuff11 Dec 2005 22:30 GMT3
Ok, well my brown spots are turning green, Yah. I'm thinking of getting
a small school of otto's for clean up when I get my new tank. Question
is will the otto's eat algae balls if I run out of algee? Also would
hatchet fish make a good fish to keep with the CL loaches, as I've ...
Giant Gourami11 Dec 2005 16:08 GMT6
I recall some people talking about Giant Gouramis a few months ago. I
happened to see some at the Tulsa Zoo, and thought I would share my video of
them. The tank they were in was quite large, probably 20 feet long., 8 feet
deep and a width of 8-12 feet, it had an irregular shape. ...
Female bettas11 Dec 2005 13:36 GMT7
Saw some great looking female bettas today when I went out to get
supplies...and with all this betta talk recently I was seriously
tempted...However, rather than rush out and get them there are a few
questions I've got:-
Looking for lighting suggestions11 Dec 2005 03:46 GMT26
Well the tank upgrade is continuing in the planning stages and I now
have a clearer idea of what I am going to get. Hubby is now well into
the project and will be sorting the cabinet. We're currently now
debating the height of the tank - it's going to be custom built. I was
Mixture of Tetras and Frog, feeding problems11 Dec 2005 02:21 GMT8
I have a 10G tank with 5 black-fin tetras, 2 neons, an algae eater, and
recently, a lively little frog.
FWIW, the algae eater isn't a plecto; I thought it was called an otto,
but I'm not sure. It's a Pet-Smart fish, though, and doesn't get to be
Algae again10 Dec 2005 13:48 GMT9

i'ts not slimy at all and dosen't rub off. also I've noticed some
hairish looking stuff growing off some of my plants, kind of brownish?
Oto greed10 Dec 2005 10:44 GMT3
I recently purchased 9 more Otos for the big tank, but left them in the
office tank for a few weeks to pass the health check. I moved six Otos to
the big tank last week, leaving one Oto in the office tank. (I have no idea
where the other two went.) I then added two SAEs to the ...
