Water Lily Mortality29 Jan 2006 18:08 GMT5
Sorry about the flood of messages. This should be the last.
I have four water lillies of different varieties in my pond. All but two
still have leaves & these aren't looking too healthy with brown spots over
much of the leaves.
Unknown Snail29 Jan 2006 12:49 GMT3
Ive recently discovered in my pond a type of aquatic snail that has made
itself at home. I can only assume it was in one of the plants I've
introduced into the pond. I was hoping someone could identify it for me. I
don't currently have a photo, but could try & find it again to ...
Care of Snail Eggs29 Jan 2006 05:22 GMT1
I was very excited this morning to find that my pond Apple or Mystery snails
had laid eggs! Unfortunately I only found this out because my dog, in a fit
of pique over me leaving him home to run down the shops, had decided to
rearrange the pond while I was away.

Question about Platies?28 Jan 2006 17:05 GMT12
I recently got a bunch of fish from someone who was tearing down their tank.
I got 4 solid yellow Platys in the mix. 2 males 2 females. I was just
wondering is it normal for the females to be 3X the size of the males?? They
are HUGE.

Question about undergravel filter conversion27 Jan 2006 22:26 GMT7
For some reason about 50 days ago I started to get an outbreak of
either algae or waste in my tank. It gets pretty bad....on the glass,
decoration and causes me to do my tank cleaning and water changes much
quicker than I did prior. Within a few months of this starting, I:
Setting up new Tank; UGF Filter?27 Jan 2006 18:03 GMT26
I am working on setting up a 20 Gallon and a 29 Gallon tank.  In the
past I have always used an undergravel filter with an aquaclear on the
back.
If I've get a biowheel or something along those lines, do I need to
Sick Glass Catfish27 Jan 2006 17:36 GMT4
One of my 5 glass catfish (Kryptopterus bicirrhis) is becoming less
transparent, ie is developing opaque marks on its body.  They are not white
spots or anything like that, more just areas which are no longer
see-through.  I have isolated it, but have no idea about treatment.  Any
shrimps & stocking levels27 Jan 2006 08:47 GMT8
I'm tempted by the idea of adding some small freshwater shrimp to my 25g
tank, currently home to 6 red eyed tetra, 6 peppered Corys, 3 elderly
cardinals & an Otocinclus haroldoi (plus a jungle of bogwood & Java fern),
but I'm not sure how they'll affect my stocking level - should I ...
top fin glass aquariums27 Jan 2006 00:45 GMT57
Hau kolas..
Popped into the local PetSmart, on a wild goose chase for a glass CO2 diffuser locally, saw some pretty low prices on some of
their topFin aquariums..so comparatively low in fact it made me uneasy..looking at a 46G bow-front tank glass top and stand
for $250. my tanks ...
I need immediate recommendations!26 Jan 2006 22:19 GMT16
My silver dollar/fancy guppy tank has experienced a nitrite spike (I will
test for ammonia too in a few minutes but it won't change much of what I
have to do to correct the water quality issue) after having been cloudy for
weeks. The cloudiness is a bad omen now in my opinion - ...
Frozen seafood for our fish........26 Jan 2006 17:00 GMT14
The Asian food stores here sell frozen bags of mixed seafood, excellent for
our koi and goldfish for around $2.49 lb.  These bags contain squid, clams,
shrimp, octopus, mussels and other delights.  I use a straight edge razor to
cut them in bite size pieces while still almost ...
Freshwater Snail Shells Eroding26 Jan 2006 16:50 GMT11
I have various freshwater snail species sporadically appearing with eroding
shells. The erosion begins with small pits forming on the youngest part of
the shell and then it eventually spreads to large scale shell degeneration.
The snail itself seems active until the final stages ...
Filter maturation26 Jan 2006 16:47 GMT4
If I run a spare internal filter in my 400l tank (medium fish load , plants,
it's own internal and external filters and UV), how long would it take to
mature ?
If this can be done, could I then move it with some filter medium, gravel,
