fluval 204 vs 304 for 37Gal?22 Jan 2006 22:31 GMT18
it's me again...  Basd on the manufacturer's guideline, for a 37gal
tank, it seemed safer to get Fluval 304 instead of 204... Hagen web
site rates 204 for maximum 40gal tank, and 304 for 70gal.  based on
this information, 37G will be at the upper limit of it's operating
Feeding Krib Fry22 Jan 2006 16:10 GMT3
I have a 180L well planted and well stocked  community tank. Last week my
pair of Kribensis did the cave thing, and now they're busy shepherding a
load of tiny babies along the bottom, keeping all the other fish away.
What can I feed the babies?

Algae Eater getting too big21 Jan 2006 21:43 GMT4
I have an Algea Eater (Exactly which species I cannot recall) and it started
out about 1 1/2 inches long. Was watching it last night and realized that
this fish is getting BIG, like its about 8 inches long right now. When he
goes to the top of the tank (He sticks his mouth out of ...

fluval 304 media choices21 Jan 2006 15:13 GMT7
I've decided to replace my HOT Magnum filter with Fluval 304 canister
filter... HOT Magnum has worked great, but I'm moving the fish tank to
a new location in the house (fun fun fun) and the new configuration is
not going to be HOT-access-friendly..
Activatiing water for fishes20 Jan 2006 02:33 GMT9
Hi, everyone, do you know that tourmaline sand is good for fishes?
Tourmaline can release 0.06mA bioelectricity in the water and
electrolyze bigger molecule group of water into smaller or single one
so as to activate water. Eradiate more than 90% FIR (far infrared ray),
Cannibal cichlids - advice please!19 Jan 2006 10:48 GMT5
This is probably somewhat predictable, but here we go.. :)
I recently converted my 55g tank to a Malawi setup, since that
was what fish I had left. I have set up loads of caves of various
sizes, so there are far more spaces to hide than there are fish.

Overflow choices?19 Jan 2006 02:59 GMT1
I'm considering getting a tank with an overflow, as I don't trust the HOB
overflow box I have. The GF are big enough now, that they can/have  knocked
the overflow loose. Besides it will give me an excuse to upgrade the
tropicals.

book sale19 Jan 2006 00:22 GMT1
FWIW, Big Als has volumes 2 and 3 of Baensch's atlas for $22 each
softbound or $30 each hardbound.  Look under discontinued items.
I can't swear that there isn't a better price somewhere, but I looked on
ABE and couldn't even find used ones for that price.
one dead fish18 Jan 2006 11:25 GMT6
Well I lost my first fish 2 days ago.  he was in my new 20gal that I'm
setting up. I checked the water levels and all was good, except the
nitrite was at about .1 ppm. I changed the water and did a sponge
squeese into this tank from a sponge of another tank. The decisead fish

Thoughts on a biofilter alternate..17 Jan 2006 03:32 GMT3
In my never ending persuit of a silent aquarium I'm considering moving to
modular fitration components similar to the pentair products.
I was thinking of using two mechanical filtration modules (each rated at 200
gallons) to not only polish the water from particulates, but act as
