| Tank circulation | 17 Jan 2006 00:02 GMT | 7 |
I'm (still) building a sump for my 55g FW. It's a learning experience to say the least. Perhaps I am over-thinking this thing, but I'd like some input from whoever is willing...... As brief as possible: My existing HOB circulates water poorly. The tank

| Fixing a mystery snail's shell? | 17 Jan 2006 00:01 GMT | 4 |
One of my gold mystery snails decided to take a stroll around the room, and broke its shell in the process. The hole is about 1/4' diameter, and is in the area of the snail's head. When the snail is tucked in, its eye is visible through the hole.

| Building an Algae Farm - musings of a nutter. | 16 Jan 2006 23:15 GMT | 6 |
A few months back (couldn't find the thread) NetMax was talking about the Algae growing inside filter tubing. He surmised that you could take this to the extreme and have enough coiled tubing exposed to light to put a serious dent in your Nitrates. After my indoor pond experiment ...

| Posting Pictures | 16 Jan 2006 17:27 GMT | 38 |
Many times we talk about our fish and want to "show" not just "tell." There is an empty binaries newsgroup: alt.binaries.aquaria I suggest we adopt this newsgroup so we can tell and show. I will post a picture I took at feeding time in my 29 gallon tank.

| How to Gravel vacum around plants? | 16 Jan 2006 15:28 GMT | 6 |
Hi all I was wondering what you guys do when you are cleaning the gravel around your plants? I want to do it without disturbing the plants too much but either I don't clean around the plants at all or else I disturb roots and plant becomes un-planted and has to be

| Nitrite mini-spike is over but low level ammonia persists -- why? | 15 Jan 2006 23:33 GMT | 3 |
I recently moved 18 African Cichlids and two small pleco's from an established 20 gallon to a used 35 gallon tank I bought. The tank is nowhere near as over-populated as it might seem as the African's range from 3/4" to 11/2" long. Now I screwed up my bio-filter by not

| growing algae | 15 Jan 2006 21:09 GMT | 19 |
Still planning the upgrade on my tank but one thing that is worrying me right now, ironically, is the lack of algae that there will be in the new tank and how this will impact my otos that won't eat anything other algae.

| FAMA vs. PFK | 14 Jan 2006 22:45 GMT | 19 |
What's your favourite magazine? I picked up a couple of PFK (Practical Fishkeeping) magazines Friday and I really like what I see. The price is a little scarey, but all those colour photos cost $$$s. The info probably isn't as indepth as you read here and

| Can you accelerate cycling by using water from an established tank? | 14 Jan 2006 22:30 GMT | 12 |
I set up a new tank a little while ago and am getting a bit annoyed with the cloudy water. I was wondering if, instead of using the clean water I get from my fish store to do water changes, it might be a good idea to use water from my established tank. I was hoping to get some ...
