My daughter bought a new Betta after her lovely "Rainbowfish" died.

How much to feed a betta?14 Jan 2006 22:17 GMT12
I've always wondered how many of the little Hikari betta pellets to
feed a betta.  I'm feeding 3 pellets twice a day right now and he seems
fine but begs an awful lot.  Should I be feeding more?  I also give
freeze-dried bloodworms as a treat a couple times a week.
bettas in plastic cups14 Jan 2006 22:12 GMT117
With all the betta discussion lately, can someone tell me about bettas
in plastic cups? Why are they offered for sale this way? The losses must
be great and the fish don't look attractive for purchase.
Also, when do the fish go into the plastic cups? Is it for transport, or
Discus and Whiteworms14 Jan 2006 22:09 GMT5
I used to breed Discus Fish, and just wanted to say to anybody thinking of
buying and keeping Discus Fish, invest in a whiteworm culture. There easy to
rear giving you an unlimited supply of free live food and Discus love em.
how much to feed one goldfish14 Jan 2006 19:56 GMT3
Bought slightly larger floating pellets this time(medium) for my one
7" goldfish.  Does anyone know how many of these pellets should be
used?  I feed once per day.  Are they like the betta pellets that
expand in size when ingested.
Molly Fry14 Jan 2006 06:20 GMT1
Just saw a few short-lived molly fry. They're not the smartest fish in
the tank, are they?  I think their entire thoughts were something like
"It's not too exciting hiding in the rocks and plants. Hey, is that my
dad? Boy, it's dark in here."

I have bought a synodontis, but I'm not too sure whish it is. I haven't yet
looked on planet catfish yet.
It looks like a Synodontis Notatus (One spot Catfish) BUT it has many spots.
its about 4-5" long, it has the same barbels as a Notatus, in that they are
Colored algae13 Jan 2006 19:34 GMT4
My GF tank's glass (actually plastic) is becoming
overrun with a reddish-purplish algae that I'm
having a devil of a time getting rid of.
Scrubbing at it with the usual tank scrubber does

I cooked my feeder prawns.13 Jan 2006 18:08 GMT1
I had 2 feeder prawns left in my tank that I got for my crayfish. And I
just got home from work and found them both dead with no slash marks on
them. I think I cooked them alive in my hot hot water (oops!) I don't
have a light on my tank and my tank is in front of a window (yes i
Sand as part of the substrate13 Jan 2006 13:23 GMT11
I was looking at the display tank at my LFS which is the same size as
the one I've got on order. They have set up the substrate in the
following way:-
A layer of sand and laterite (I think)
Declorinator and humans13 Jan 2006 06:56 GMT8
Aside from the "ick factor," would there be any health problems in
giving dechlorinated water to humans and other mammals as drinking water?

Araldite epoxy glue on tank lid safe?13 Jan 2006 00:24 GMT4
A while ago one of my tank lids broke.  I'm getting sick of looking at
the cling wrap I put over it instead, and my oscar is starting to bite
holes in it!  Is it safe to use epoxy based glues like araldite to
stick my glass lid back together, or will it poison the fish if water
Cleaning an Eheim 2213 'classic' ?12 Jan 2006 04:26 GMT1
I'm trying to clean out the impeller area of my Ehiem 2213, but I can't
work out how it comes apart !  I can turn the plastic 'disc' shaped
like this --O-- and then pull the shaft out, but the impeller is too
large to come out through the hole.
