50g experiment, day 116 Feb 2006 01:34 GMT46
So, I was tired of taking care of two tanks (a 10g and 6g), cuz the
10g was a little over stocked, thus requiring extra care, and the 6g
(planted, w/ betta) was growing every algae known to man (cuz I don't
know how to take care of plants, I suppose, and I don't really relish

While Carol was hitting the  her usual anti-jw hate spew.
Real JW's were busy helping Katrina victims.

wood canopies15 Feb 2006 15:58 GMT1
Anybody have a good place online to find a decent-but-reasonable-priced
wood canopy? Eventually looking for a few different size, but near-term,
something to fit a 29-gallon tank. TIA

Instant Amazon15 Feb 2006 12:50 GMT11
A visit to a pet store during my once a month trip to the city gave me
a chance to check out some new, (to me), products, and Instant Amazon
caught my eye. I've seen some of Marc Weiss's ads in aqua magazines,
and the label on this bottle of magic potion is downright verbose, but
Cloudy water - how to tell good from bad15 Feb 2006 07:47 GMT3
Within the last 24 hours our (new < 1wk) tank has gone from clear to
extremely cloudy.  Looking at the various books/FAQ's etc, this could
be 'good' bacteria getting going, or an algae bloom.  How does one
tell the difference?
acrylic tanks: warping?15 Feb 2006 03:06 GMT3
just wondering whether any of you have acrylic tanks and have found any
warping?
i bought a 55 gallon tank a few months back. i hadn't noticed until
recently, but the front side of the tank is bulging out a little. it's
HELP! Question on something Im doing right now....15 Feb 2006 02:59 GMT6
A couple of days ago I did a 20% water change and vac on my 20g tank. The
water clouded up and started smelling like sewer water but the readings were
OK with the ph a little off but still ok. Tonight I got home and went to
feed and dumped dang near a whole large jar of food in the ...
Should I Be Worried?14 Feb 2006 22:44 GMT6
Thirty years ago I had a 20 gallon aquarium. No test strips, no cycling,
just throw in a few fish, and if they survived, add a few more. <g>
I just started a 75 gallon tank, with two Penguin 400 filters, and lots
of plants. Added 9 swordtails and the recommended dose of 'cycle'. ...
Aquaria Central down for good?14 Feb 2006 07:49 GMT6
Does anyone know if Aquaria Central is down for good? The site has been down
all weekend now.
Automatic or manual co2 injection13 Feb 2006 18:32 GMT6
I'm thinking the automatic might be more trouble than its worth. probe
replacement, calibration, sticky valves.
If my kh is 8dh, I'm thinking of just bubble in some co2 slowly untill
my goal ph is reached, make sure co2 isn't too much, and leave it on
using co2 to lower ph13 Feb 2006 13:08 GMT10
If my kh is quite high and I try to lower the ph using co2 will I
possibly end up with just high (unsafe) amounts of co2 and slightly
lower ph? Stated another way, will a high kh prevent attaining a
useable (co2 wise) ph?
All fish dying, unable to diagnose disease [long]12 Feb 2006 23:35 GMT34
The beginning of my story goes back a few months now. I have a Jewel Rio
180 tank fully established and fully stocked. All of a sudden, fish
started going missing. A guppy here and there, the odd cardinal tetra or
aquatic frog. Things like that. Not often, and not at regular ...
Malayasian Trumpet Snails12 Feb 2006 22:48 GMT9
I have a quick question about Malaysian trumpet snails. I have two in a
betta tank (I think I saw a baby one the other day so perhaps three)
and don't want to get rid of them. This question is actually about
keeping them alive. I recently cleaned out the entire tank (its only
Flounder12 Feb 2006 17:27 GMT3
I had to pick up a couple flounder at my local oddball fishstore, I love em.
The guy told me that he had no idea what species they were because there are
soo many species.  He also had no idea of how large they'd grow, though he
said that he never saw one any bigger than 5".
