| A general thanks to the group. | 08 Feb 2006 04:40 GMT | 4 |
Its been 3 months now and the tank is doing great. Every single thing I have learned about keeping fish I learned from the people in this group. My initial startup "Put water in tank, put fish in water, watch fish die, buy more fish" obviously wasnt the correct way to go about ...

I am looking forward to hearing more about how papa red's tanks turn out and how sean's piranhas do in their huge tank. I only have 2 silver dollars but if I correctly read my older book they are relatively closely related to piranhas but are herbivorous, and seem to share the same ...

I am currently housesitting for someone who has a 50 gallon fishtank. Just before they left they said they changed part of the fishtank water as well as cleaned the fishtank. At this time the tank turned a strong green color where you can barely see the fish. As well, this is a ...

| Profile substrate does lower pH | 05 Feb 2006 19:58 GMT | 2 |
I regret I didn't make this a more controlled test, as I didn't expect the Profile to make much difference, but the numbers are conclusive. For those unfamiliar with Profile, this is a reddish sand sold for irrigation control on golf courses. It has some useful properties for ...

| Going on holiday | 03 Feb 2006 18:51 GMT | 30 |
I have a tank with 10 pristella tetras in it (approx 1" long small tetras). Water quality etc is ok. There are no plants. A backup airpump-driven filter complements the main filter which needs manual restarting after a blackout.
