Eco-Complete Plant Substrate?  Anyone Familiar with it?03 Feb 2006 18:02 GMT4
I'm setting up a new 90 gal discus/planted tank and thought I'd give it
a try rather then the Flourite Red that I have in the other tank.   (I've
had no problems with the Flourite, just thought I'd try something else.)
One thing I have noticed is the massive root growth ...
Clown Loaches--sick?03 Feb 2006 05:02 GMT16
I named them Skitter and Scatter, because they are neurotically shy.
They have developed a new hobby, or they are slowly dying, of laying on
their sides together behind a planter.  Slightly worried.  Last night I
assumed one was dying, then this morning when I went to scoop out its
lighting idea?03 Feb 2006 03:35 GMT41
Perusing the web the other day, I came across compact fluorescent
sockets that could be screwed into an incandescent socket.  Both inline
and square pin versions.
Seems like this would be another path to some cheap lighting.  Has
Reducing suction for a filter idea....02 Feb 2006 23:11 GMT8
What about using a spray bar in reverse? That way water is brought into the
filter at the same rate as before but distributed over a large area so no
baby fish (as babies might be able to swim out of the spray bar hole as the
suction would be reduced drastically) get sucked into the ...

Hi..
For 3 years now I've some trouble with raccoons. They come
at night to catch and eat my fish. Does anyone know how to

Converting from salt- equipment questions02 Feb 2006 01:20 GMT9
Well, after enjoying my saltwater tank for quite some time, I've
decided to convert to freshwater. I was successful in the salt realm
but have grown tired of the demands on my wallet and free time (plus I
honestly like the looks of a freshwater tank better). I am seeking some
MTS & Green Spotted Puffers01 Feb 2006 22:29 GMT6
I have two juvenile (about 2" long) Green Spotted
Puffers (Tetraodon nigroviridis - identification
about 97.566% certain) that I'm moving into a
new, larger tank.
Things you wish newbies knew.01 Feb 2006 20:08 GMT52
OK, I will now reveal that I have at one time worked as a fish professional.
I worked for one of the big "evil empire" type stores when I needed an extra
job to cover some expenses. Here are some things I wish people knew about
fish before they ever thought about keeping an ...
Aqua Clear 50 question...01 Feb 2006 18:34 GMT2
Hi Fish group,
I cleaned my AC (Aqua Clear) 50 filter for the frist time, I used a
"Ammo-carb" combo activated carbon and ammonia remover. I found out
after downloading the AC manual AC makes special cratriges for this and
Do your fish 'know' you?01 Feb 2006 17:53 GMT11
My Goldfish definitely react to me walking by the tank, as the begging for
food starts. Mine even recognize their shiny gold food bag, as they get very
excited when they see it.
But I'm not certain that the Tropicals have the same level of recognition.
Proper way to move a fish?01 Feb 2006 10:19 GMT16
No question I am going to have to move my Algae Eater and give him to
someone who can support him, he is getting LARGE. He's close to 7-8 inches
right now in a 20 gal. tank with 8 other fish. So my question is "What is
the proper way to move this fish" without stressing him out too ...
Need Help - Some Kind of Plague Killing Plants/Fish01 Feb 2006 09:16 GMT10
I've been in the hobby for a number of years now and this is my second
freshwater tank. It's 75G and (was) planted quite heavily. I've been
doing everything by the book, water changes every 2 weeks, adding
fertilizers as needed. I'm adding micronutrients, iron and potassium
Tetratec Power Filter01 Feb 2006 03:23 GMT1
Has anyone tried one of these yet? I've used primarily Whispers for
many years, as well as a couple of Aquaclears and I've read all of the
debates on the strengths and weaknesses of each and I agree and
disagree with all of the agreements and disagreements. The Whisper
