*sigh*  Suicidal fish28 Mar 2006 04:52 GMT6
I'm so bummed.  Goliath, my big, beautiful, friendly shubunkin goldfish
jumped out of the half-barrel pond last night.  I found him dried out
this morning.  *sigh*
I've never figured out how to cover the barrels to keep predators out
How Does Chlorine Kill Fish?28 Mar 2006 01:53 GMT5
Just curious...
How does chlorine affect fish? If you forgot to add your water
conditioner would your fish succumb to the toxins in minutes, hours,
days or just leave them susceptible to infection?
Copper28 Mar 2006 00:56 GMT1
Hi folks, so like a moron, I used a brass pipe fitting for some
plumbing to my plant grow out tank. Up side, all algae died. Down side,
so did some of my fastre growing plants.
So... I removed the fitting and added a bag of copper absorbing resin

A couple of weeks ago I added 12 Neons to my new 6 foot tank - these
were the only inhabitants apart from some plants. 2 days ago I added
some Panda Cories...
I now have 2 fry in the tank (that I've seen so far). I very much doubt

I've had my giant gourami for about 5 months now and,,, needless to

started to feed him lots and lots of peas. He seems to love them quite a

I posted here a few months ago when I was starting my first tank (I
guess I still am starting . . ).   Here's a synopsis.
Started with a 26 gallon tank And added 2 Mollys, 1 Guppy and 1
Swordtail.  Not fully understaning how to cycle the tank, all but one
Tiger Barb life span27 Mar 2006 00:39 GMT2
What's the life span for Tiger Barbs?
I was cleaning the tank today and found one dead on the bottom. I think it
must have been dead for at least a couple of days, as it had lost most of
it's colour and most of the head had been pecked away. It was also a little
Many more silly questions :-)26 Mar 2006 22:06 GMT17
Hello, now that you have all been so kind and have given me the all
clear to ask away, I have a couple of silly questions that I've been
meaning to ask but felt too silly.
The first is how do you test for the hardness or softness of your

Last silly question (yeah, right)25 Mar 2006 22:53 GMT3
Sorry to ask an even more silly questions.  I had never heard of Epsom
salts but now have some in my possession to help my less floating
Ryukin.  Is it alright adding it to a tank that already has salt in it.
I've been adding the salt to get rid of my Black Moor's fungus.  I
mixing fish25 Mar 2006 19:24 GMT3
i was wondering if you coluld actually mix two types of tetras in the
same tank or would they fight because at the moment i have only 2
glowlight tetras left (the others died of whitesopot about 6 months ago

Rena air pump vs Tetra whisper air pump noise25 Mar 2006 15:01 GMT12
I have a Hagen air pump.. and it's very noisy.  I'm thinking either to
replace the sponge filter with internal filter (such as Fluval1 or
Duetto), or buy a quieter air pump, if there is such a thing.
this pump is for a 5G quarantine tank... so I don't need anything
