I read a suggestion that a computer UPS was a good way to keep filters
and heaters going during a power outage.  CompUSA has an 800VA unit on
sale.  Assuming VA as roughly equivalent to watts, that would run a 100
watt heater for 8 hours if the heater was on all the time.
elmer's size of fish25 Mar 2006 07:53 GMT7
since I am always asking things I thought I would add something.
I have noticed some people on here are setting up new tanks or are stopping
by and are new at keeping fish, a few anyway, and have had questions about
certain fish fitting in tanks when full grown, along with some ...

a question for the group----
I am moving from North Carolina to California and am moving my three tanks.
I am trading all of the fish to the LFS for food etc. and moving the tanks
dry (of course). The question is in regard to the filters should I open them
I've got a floater24 Mar 2006 23:45 GMT10
Hello, have been trying not to post too often since Roy kindly pointed
out how I seem to have so many things going wrong.  Well for the past
week things have got much better.  The tail on my Ryukin has healed,
the fungus on my black moor has healed with regular water changes and

Have any of you ever put wheels on your aquarium stand, in case
you have to move the acquarium?
I plan to get a 55-gal aquarium soon.

Courious about adjusting water parameters24 Mar 2006 13:59 GMT5
I'm in the midst of setting up a 30g Long tank to move Mr. Plecto and
his friends, the Rosey Barbs, a big CAE and some gypsy feeder guppy
males. The tank itself has been filled with water for 7 days. On
filling I added Cycle per bottle instructions and transplanted swords

Removing medication24 Mar 2006 03:25 GMT17
I've been treating my tank for ich over the past two weeks. I moved my
african dwarf frog to a separate tank during treatment. My question is,
how long should I keep activated carbon in the tank in order to remove
all medication? (I am using Rid Ich at half dose) Can I, say, ...
Need canister filter advice.24 Mar 2006 03:18 GMT21
Well, my Eheim Pro 2226 canister filter died (bad leak/crack?) and I'm
in the market for a new canister filter.  I haven't been keeping up on
the latest since the Eheim has been basically trouble free.  What's new
and happening in the canister filter world now?  Are the Fluvals ...

Where should I put my Dwarf Gourami23 Mar 2006 21:15 GMT15
I'm seriously considering breaking down the 15 gall tank in the kitchen
as I need the workspace....I have no issue with moving most of the fish
to my new 6 foot tank - they will fit in with no problems with the other
fish that I'm going to put in there...the one exception is a ...

Netmax..... remember I had told you we were getting a 120 gl tank? My
husband wanted me to ask if you by chance would know the weight when filled?
Is it 3 lbs per gl of water?
We are going to try and set it up in the next few days, but we are trying to
Noisy Aqua-Clear23 Mar 2006 05:35 GMT5
Mini, or AQ 20, or whatever it is this week.  Replaced the impeller,
if anything, it's worse, can hear it all through the house.  Other AQs
are quiet.
Any ideas?  I have a replacement coming, but it would be nice to keep
Red-Tail Shark23 Mar 2006 02:09 GMT2
I recently purchased a red-tail shark. It quickly became my favorite
ihabitant. Unfortunately,  it died after a couple of days.
The water quality is fine, I also provided enough hiding spots, caves,
etc. in my 40 Gal. tank. Other inhabitants include some other bottom
