fungus19 Mar 2006 01:37 GMT20
Hello, me again :-)  I've been reading a lot about treating fungus etc
on this ng recently.  It seems to a common occurance.  I recently used
Furanase in my tank.  It does say on the packet that this can mess
about with the nitrification cycle.  Well it did.  I have trace amounts
pleco poop longgg19 Mar 2006 00:46 GMT19
I sat here for a minute figuring out how to tactfully ask this,
but when your talking about poop, that goes right out the window.
I guess since my pleco has been here now for a few weeks he is feeling more
confortable
My Bristlenosed Pleco is Growing VERY Slowly.19 Mar 2006 00:22 GMT35
I have had a 1 1/2" bristlenosed pleco for almost a year now and he hasn't
grown hardly at all.  He may have grown about 1/4" since I've had him.  I
know that they are slow growers, but THIS slow?  He seems healthy otherwise.
He's only been eating algae from the tank, shrimp ...

Cleaning Eheim cannister filter18 Mar 2006 18:48 GMT8
To the group:
I have had a Eheim cannister filter hooked into my 75 gallon aquarium now
for about 7 months.  I have had absolutely no problems and water is crystal
clear.  I am thinking that one of these days I am going to have to replace
fish food, fish, and 2yr olds-help/advise please17 Mar 2006 18:00 GMT12
I just finished giving my fish tank a 50% water change after finding
out that my 2yr daughter decided that she needed to feed the fish
the remains of an old container of fish food (about 3.5 g of brine
shrimp).
Cory's sensitive to 4 year olds...17 Mar 2006 16:57 GMT32
I've got a male betta and two tiny cory's (corydoras pygmaeus I think
...photo at http:\\www.muddylittletaoist.org.uk\pigmycory2.jpg ) in a
22 litre tank.  They have previously been very happy little guys
playing in the bubbles and scooting round checking out everywhere for
Another Almost Good Idea17 Mar 2006 16:44 GMT1
I have rather hard water, and I have a conductivity meter that is
calibrated to indicate PPM to measure it.  I noticed all the smart
people specify measurements in microseimens, so I got a meter
calibrated to read that way.
goldfish sick17 Mar 2006 07:23 GMT15
I had problems with my guppy tank & betta tanks with ick, which is now under
control and they all look almost 100% better, but I think in the process of
doing water changes and feeding and what not I may have used something in my
big tank that I had used in one of those tanks ...
alternative to using suction cups?17 Mar 2006 00:30 GMT18
I'm going to be installing a spray bar on my tank when I switch my
canister filters.  Now the question is, is there an alternative to
using suction cups to hold it in place?  My experience with all sorts
of suction cups is that usually within a year or so, they harden, and
How long till Mr. Plecto out grows his tank16 Mar 2006 21:24 GMT6
In my 10g community tank, I have a Common Pleco (aka Mr. Plecto) who is
now about 6-7 inches in lenght. He'll be moving shortly to new quaters,
a 33g long tank. I've had him for about 2 years. I'm pretty sure that
the fish load in the 10g is quite over the limit based on numbers ...
Minimum Aquarium Size - EU Regulations16 Mar 2006 19:10 GMT95
A few days ago one of the chaps in my LFS told me that the EU were
going to bring in a regulation on the minimum size an aquarium can be
for keeping fish, which seems fairly sensible to me. But then he told
me that the minimum would be about 60-70 litres and all smaller aquaria
Can I use marine bulbs in a freshwater setup?16 Mar 2006 13:50 GMT9
Howdy all,
I've got a moderately planted 75G tank lightly stocked with about 20
tetras and 20 small shrimp. I have been lighting it with the 40W strip
light and a couple of smaller aquarium lights for about 6 months. I was
Dwarf Gourami16 Mar 2006 02:39 GMT46
I've been considering adding a couple of dwarf gouramis to one of my
tanks, and would like some input from DG keepers. My water is very
soft, both KH and GH, pH hangs around 6.6 and 6.8. I don't want to add
anything to change the chemistry of the water - is it suitable for
Power-outage question15 Mar 2006 20:43 GMT4
Tomorrow, we are going to experience a power outage of 8 hours (9 to
5). I have a ten gallon tank with about three inches of fish, and a
five gallon tank with two apple snails. Hence I am panicking with the
short notice about what to do!
