Rocks for new tank06 Mar 2006 20:48 GMT15
I was musing earlier today about how I could set up a new 33g long
freshwater tank. My community tank (10g) is being totally overrun with
javamoss and Amazon Arrow plant (darn that Flurish is good!).
I've got some pieces of drift wood that will be boiled up this week. I
Hard Choices06 Mar 2006 19:14 GMT23
We live in an age of hard choices. Many, for example, are
implacably opposed to abortion, calling it murder of the unborn. Others
feel just as strongly that women have authority over their own bodies
and should decide such a matter for themselves. Many view
New tank is cycling mystery06 Mar 2006 15:40 GMT16
For those not aware - last weekend I set up a six foot - 136 US gall
tank. We also installed a Fluval FX5 which has been running since
Sunday. All the filter medium is new - the filter medium from the
existing tank will go over with the fish but not before.
fish disease getting desparate - velvet/hexamita?06 Mar 2006 06:46 GMT4
well, I have 4 gouramis, 1 of which showed signs that resembled
hole-in-the-head disease few months ago (patches of scales starting to
turn white, and periodically peeling off in flakes).  So I have been
cleaning tanks, changing water, etc, and also medicating with drugs
What kind of fish is this?06 Mar 2006 01:08 GMT13
http://www.dinofish.com/wmgallery/images/fish.jpg  Because many folks
online now know that I have a bunch of fish [13 tanks worth], and
[thanks to you folks] I seem to have some real knowledge about them, so
now people send me questions and photos,  of which the above photo is
Just a quick update and thank-you06 Mar 2006 00:35 GMT1
Because a) everyone here has been so helpful and b) I'm so pleased
with how my tank looks now...
It looks good. :-) The plants and a couple of extra rocks and bits of
wood have made such a difference, and I swear the fish are excited

plastic table cloth from the dollar store. many different colors I got a
black one 6' x 4' cut it into three pieces one for each tank. it clung to
the back of the tank. I love it! and all for $1.00
Breeding traps06 Mar 2006 00:01 GMT19
I just put my very fat black molly in the breeding trap since the male
was giving her too much attention and what do you know she starts
giving birth like 2 mins later! i didn't have the baby divider in so
she quickly ate them all so i slipped the divider in since there were
air pump and ugf questions05 Mar 2006 23:06 GMT3
i've had a 40ish gallon (22 x 36 x 12) tank for some years now.  it has
an under gravel filter powered by three tubes with air stones in them.
its in the living room and the pump noise bothers me from time to time.
i'd be interested in noise reduction techniques for a tank in a ...
Cherry Barbs off their food05 Mar 2006 17:17 GMT6
I've got six Cherry Barbs in a 10 gallon tank with 4 SAEs, three Otos and a
few snails. I know it's over stocked, but the SAEs will be moving on one
day. I normally feed the Barbs freeze dried Blood worms and let the rest of
the crew feed off the Algae. I occasionally feed the ...
Blue JD Question05 Mar 2006 02:05 GMT3
Can I keep mature tinfoil barbs and/or bala sharks with a pair of BJD's if
the Dempseys are ~1.5" when introduced to the tank? This would be a 180 gal.
If no, would  2 BJD's be ok in  a 110 Xtra tall alone?
Thanks,
RO water and KH problem with new populated tank05 Mar 2006 00:52 GMT6
I started an aquarium on Dec 14th.  The water in my home is not
suitable for an aquarium so I decided to use RO water. I knew I had to
add a conditioner to the water so I put Kent Marine RO Right in the
water.  What I didn't know is that I had to adjust the KH of the water
Is my fish sick?05 Mar 2006 00:00 GMT2
I recently got an orange molly..It is quite small around 1.5". I
noticed tonight that there is some black on her...around her belly and
on her sides just before the tail. They don't look like surface spots
more like black under the skim? Does that make sense? I was just
Vibrations in the tank = bad for the fish?04 Mar 2006 22:13 GMT8
I have noticed in the past few days that my filter is causing a low
buzzing sound from vibrating in the tank. I have one of those internal
filters. I don't know what it is but sometimes you can it vibrating
against the tank and you can feel the vibrations if you put your hand
Planting tips?04 Mar 2006 13:44 GMT16
Whee, so my plants have arrived. Now what do I do? LOL
They're all labelled with what they are and whether they're
foreground etc. Do I just take each bunch apart and shove the roots
under the gravel? Do I need to use weights (some lead weights came
