Massive, Sudden fish loss-Seeking advice09 Apr 2006 12:04 GMT5
I had a nice stable 10 gallon tank with 10 fish- 5 tetras, a couple
barbs, zebra danios.  The fish had live several years and the tank
looked good with regular siphoning of the bottom and water changes.
The trouble started when I bought a new tank.   I started it up and a
Silly question about food09 Apr 2006 02:42 GMT11
Hello to everybody.  Just a quick question to ask about 'floating
pellets' for goldfish.  Does this not go against everything I have ever
read about feeding goldfish?  Would this not encourage swim bladder
problems?  I went to my local Petco and they were the only pellets I

I was looking for something to keep one of my males in and by chance came
across this container I have, I don't know if everyone has *family dollar*
stores in their states, they are just dollar stores, I get my son cheese
balls, they come in this big round container, I was ...
Nerites eat Hygrophila?!?09 Apr 2006 01:16 GMT5
Grumble.  Supposedly Nerites don't eat plants.  *looks over at Richard*
I added three "tiger nerites" to my planted tank and the older leaves
on my Hygrophila difformis are now lace.  They look almost like these:

Hey Max.
Did you see the ad on the Aqurain Fish Mag? It has a light system with
filters and 3 bio-wheels. I thought that was your idea.
Just in case you are still trying to build the one you talked about
Newbee looking to purchase wall aquarium08 Apr 2006 17:57 GMT2
I have a couple of questions regarding the purchase of a wall aquarium.
I am looking for a fish tank (preferably for salt water fish) that is about
5' in length and 4" in depth.  I have checked online and have seen various
tanks vary from $200 (click link
Lazy betta question08 Apr 2006 15:41 GMT17
I can't decide whether one of my bettas is sick or just lazy.  He spends
most of his time either sitting plants near the surface of his tank or
nose-down in the plants at the bottom.  He looks fine and eats eagerly.
I've had him since January and his fins have grown nicely and ...

I'm a neophyte aquarist.  I have been reading this group for a while now
and really glean excellent info from it.  I read a lot of Usenet and this
group is fantastic.

Substrate?07 Apr 2006 16:59 GMT25
I was planning on using plain aquarium gravel as the substrate in my
soon-to-be-developed 55-gallon planted tank. I'm seeing other types
of substrates, though, for planted tanks. Is aquarium gravel enough?
Seems to be fine in my 10-gallon tank.

new female betta's /together??07 Apr 2006 15:00 GMT5
I have a question betta people.....
I usually see chain store female betta's in tanks together, however the ones
I got have been kept by them selves, will this pose a problem with putting
them together? I have not taken them out of their neat little custom bowls
Fluval experience?07 Apr 2006 09:25 GMT8
Hello, I have a Fluval 404 which is about 4 months old.  I've read that
eventually the output becomes less and less and the pipes need
cleaning.  A few weeks ago I rinsed my pads from the filter and
reconnected it all up. When it started it spat out a small amount of
