I've got a planted 58 gallon tank that has got some ick since I've introduced 3 small clown loaches. There are about a dozen amano shrimp, a cherry barb, a few otos and a big ole SAE (yes, a real SAE). This is the first ick breakout that I've had in about five years so I'm

Hello, just a quick question to ask about some odd behaviour with my Pearlscale. He is chasing the other fish around one minute and then resting the next. He is getting quite big now, probalby around 3 1/2 inches long. I suspect that he could be the father of the fry that i

Is laundered foam (or other) filter pads safe for freshwater aquarium inhabitants? Any chance the laundry soap (detergent) leaves any residues that are harmful for aquarium inhabitants (snails, fish, plants other invertebrates, etc.) could still be on filter media that has been ...

| UPDATE Water parameters in new Aquarium | 04 Apr 2006 10:56 GMT | 2 |
I just finished checking the water in my "new" 33g community tank. The tank was initially set up 18 days ago. The first 7 days it was planted and treated with Cycle. On the 8th day guppies (5 male feeders) were added and water parameters were sampled.

| aggressive gourami | 04 Apr 2006 08:41 GMT | 8 |
I have a 20gal aquarium with 7 tiger barbs. About a week ago I added 2 three-spot gourami's. Soon after I added the gourami's I noticed that the bigger one was chasing the little one. I assumed maybe that it was stess from being moved and the gourami seemed to always back off. But

Hello. As most of you know I have had numerous teething problems with my 4 fancy goldfish. A few weeks ago I set up a hospital tank as my Ryukin appeared to have a swim bladder problem. Well she is doing fine now. Thank you to everybody.

| Aquarium equipment plugs | 04 Apr 2006 01:58 GMT | 4 |
Will the filter, lights, aerator, etc., for my 55-gallon aquarium have plugs with three prongs or two? All the plugs for my small aquariums (10-gal and 2.5-gal) are two- pronged, but I'm wondering if the larger equipment will have the

| Snail Control | 03 Apr 2006 21:09 GMT | 11 |
Well, looks like I must have missed some snail eggs while setting up my new 45 gallon planted tank, as I have a population of what I think are pond snails crawling around. I've been removing them manually, but I would like some better way of control. Current (intentional) ...

| CLR ingredients? - Hard water stains | 03 Apr 2006 21:04 GMT | 9 |
Does anyone know if CLR (Calcium Lime Rust remover) contains any soap? I've used both CLR and Vinegar to clean hard water stains off the canopy on my tank. The Vinegar is far less effective and takes much longer to do the job. But the CLR (Phosphoric and Glycolic acid) seems to ...

| Neon tetras dropping like flies | 03 Apr 2006 08:33 GMT | 129 |
I bought 12 Neons for my new tank at the beginning of the month (just over 3 weeks ago). The tank did a mini-cycle which I fixed by seeding it (nitrites got to 0.1 so not massive). All settled down so I added 6 Panda Cories - 2 didn't make it but I got credit as the LFS ...

I went out to the petstore yesterday and just stood in front of the tanks planning what and when I'm going to get the thousands of fish that I want. I need at least another 15 tanks and they all need to be at least 120g each. :-) Not much hope there.
