Disinfection20 Apr 2006 07:56 GMT2
I have been battling some sort of bacterial infection in a goldfish
tank.  Every time I add a new Goldfish, it seems fine for 2-3 days,
then becomes lethargic, resting on the bottom and moving only
occasionally.  By day 4, a white mass develops (usually on one side

Really Nice Aquarium Audience19 Apr 2006 23:55 GMT22
I am really enjoying this newsgroup.  I am a full-fledged newbie with
newsgroups per-say.  I've attempted to scour over the various postings and
crash-coursing myself.  It's been twenty years since I had the fish-bug.  I
decided this month to setup a 55gal freshwater kit from ...
Is the =?iso-8859-1?Q?=93Gay_Life=94?= Really Gay?19 Apr 2006 17:04 GMT9
LIFE must be faced as it is, not as one wishes it would be. Many
homosexuals may wish that the world would accept them as they are simply—
as people—without any regard as to whether they choose males or females
as bed partners. But the fact of the matter is that the world does not ...
Plant Pruning19 Apr 2006 12:29 GMT28
Do you folks have special tools to prune your aquarium plants,
or do you use things you picked up at a non-lfs?
I see leaves dying on the plant in my 10-gallon aquarium and
I'd like to cut them off and take them out without disturbing
Starting again...19 Apr 2006 08:05 GMT6
It's been a week since the last of my fish died, I think I have got over
the shock :-)
Anyway, I now need to start things again.  Visted a local shop today, and
asked what I needed todo to ensure whatever killed all my other fish, will

Question about filters19 Apr 2006 01:48 GMT3
I'm going to set up a 55-gallon freshwater tank soon.  I'm planning on a
canister, a Lifegard fluidized bed and a U/V sterilizer.  I probably don't
actually need that much filtration, but I want it.
Anyway....my question is....can I let the water pump in the canister drive
no ich spots18 Apr 2006 23:23 GMT1
Ok, i guess the ich is at the life cycle where the ich is on the bottom of
the tank in the rocks, the female bettas that were covered in spots
yesterday are now no longer covered i have to look hard to find a spot or
two,  i normaly use 4 tsp per 3 gallon bucket, which is a bit ...
traveling snail to the filter....18 Apr 2006 23:21 GMT7
Thought you might enjoy this,
I have a big double sided whisper filter, my ivory mystery snail is pretty
active meaning all over the tank, I have all the snails in the goldfish tank
at the moment which is pretty big, a lot of glass for them to cover, I could
Water Quality Report18 Apr 2006 18:47 GMT4

Mind you, you could replace "water quality" with 'rocket science' and i
Hatchet Fish18 Apr 2006 13:57 GMT5
Now, who was it that hasn't been able to catch her hatchet fish in the
act of eating? I responded with a promise to buy some hatchet fish so
that I could watch how they eat. I purchased three this afternoon, I
wanted five, but it's a long time until payday. And I needed to save

Fin Rot, time to call in the big guns18 Apr 2006 07:40 GMT8
I tried to get rid of the fin rot with Melafix/Primfix combo and it
did not really work. I wonder if it is time to call in the big guns.
Will Fish Zole do the job? It is said to be used for control of common
bacterial infections in fish. I hwave a whole bottle and ready to use
