Betta serendipity11 May 2006 17:30 GMT7
I had such fun today.  A dear friend found a 2 gallon tank in a thrift
store and decided to keep fish for the first time since her childhood.
She came to me ready to follow the instructions and put a bunch of fish in
the tank. (!)
Red growth11 May 2006 05:02 GMT59
I have curious growths in my 75 gallon tank.  They grow to about a 1/4
to 3/8 inch diameter, dark on the circumference and lighter in the
middle.  So far they only appear on the two ends just at the boundary
of gravel and water.  It has been a couple of years since the first
Snail sex!11 May 2006 01:21 GMT5
I lost another Snail today, white shell on the bottom of the tank. So I drag
out the test kits, but I couldn't find the GH kit instructions and the KH
test kit is AWOL. But I'm pretty sure the GH test is one drop per DH. But
the water turned yellow after only one drop. Seems too ...
RT Black Shark11 May 2006 00:04 GMT30
I've read conflicting temperature preferences for the RTBS...one site
states a preference of 75*F...some say 78*F...some say 76*-82*F...My tank
is holding at 80*F (If I can read that inny winny teeny mercury
right)..I'm considering bringing it down to around 77*-78*F...any ...
Live Aquarium Plants10 May 2006 23:49 GMT24
I have always wanted to try an aquarium with live plants, but fear has
stopped me! I would like to start out with a 10 gal. tank to see how it
goes.  I have an economy incandescent hood with 2 all-glass 6500k 10
wt. flourescent bulbs to use that a guy in a LSF assured me would be
Mister Hatchet has a spot10 May 2006 21:31 GMT3
5 silver hatchet, been with me for 2 or 3 weeks. Very active, almost
too active. One developed a small, white, ich looking spot on his
body, right where the silver body meets the semi translucent anal fin.
No behavior change, no other spots, all other hatchets, and tank mates
Rena Aqualife Panorama10 May 2006 21:16 GMT2
I found this tank at
http://www.aquariumsuperstore.co.uk/mall/renaaquarlifepanorama.asp.  I was
curious if they had a dealer in the States?
Cross-Posting10 May 2006 18:06 GMT9
Who had the brilliant idea of allowing cross-postings on usenets?  What
positive purpose could it possible serve?  Seems like it just bogs the
system down...consuming bandwidth.....this is a senseless generation for
sure...Technology abounds and we lack the discipline to use it ...

Clown Loach from Hell >:(10 May 2006 11:15 GMT3
Hi Group,

hiding places) are getting big (few inches long now), their out and

SAE aggression or mating?10 May 2006 10:56 GMT9
OK, so aggression is a bit overstated. They sit on the bottom and one slowly
approaches the other and it backs off. Then the one that backed off
approaches the first one and it backs off. I don't know if this is a
territorial thing or a mating ritual. It all looks pretty peaceful ...
Missing eye10 May 2006 02:50 GMT14
Didn't someone not to long ago, post that they had a fish with a
missing eye, or eyes?
I thought they said it was due to another fish in the tank, but wasn't
sure of which one of it's tankmates did it... An aggerssion thing,

up and down at the moment, they came out of the eggs about 26 hours after
being spawned, i also had another spawn going and we got to the point where

Still struggling to get tank cycled after more than two months10 May 2006 02:00 GMT16
My 3 black neon tetras, 1 h. rasbora and 2 glowlight tetras seem very
happy, and aside from the diatom/brown algae I have to scrub away with
water changes, the tank is clear.  Today, more than two months after I
set up the 10g tank, and after even trying some (useless) Cycle, my
Ailing Angel10 May 2006 01:48 GMT1
I have an angel that has developed some reddish spots at the top of its body
between the dorsal fin and the eyes.  It looks like rust!
Can anyone identify this ailment?
