Pregnant Fish: What to do31 Jul 2006 22:48 GMT7
I have two pregnant fish. A Sword and a black Molly. They both look like
they are going to explode. I was thinking when these fry come to just let em
fend for themselves but I recall someone here mentioning how the other fish
will eat them (I expect my pretty big clown loaches ...
Rubber gloves for cleaning?31 Jul 2006 01:39 GMT13
Is it ok to waer rubber gloves when cleaning an aquarium or fish tank?
It's the type you use for dishwishing, but the gloves are new (not used
in detergent or anything), and I've rinsed it under running water for
about 5 minutes. Just want to check that it is ok to use.
Major Changes in fish behavior.28 Jul 2006 19:39 GMT2
After changing the filter, I cut the old sponge as someone suggested and
pushed it down inside the new bio filter, Ill leave it for a few days. But I
noticed the fish are very very active now. At first I thought it might have
had something to do with going from a 20 gal filter to ...
Yabbies/Crayfish Escaping from Environment27 Jul 2006 11:16 GMT2
A warning to all members who own yabbies/crayfish: if you have an open
environment, such as a large bowl or aquarium tea-table, they do wander
out. One of my yabbies walked down the hall and fell down a couple of
flights of steep stairs (he lived...for a while), and another in my
Finnage27 Jul 2006 03:00 GMT1
I know one thing for sure I've forgotten from long ago.
I don't know the proper names for the different fins on a fish.

Ph help - to basic, and won't change....26 Jul 2006 14:32 GMT4
I've got a large tank set up (well, actually, I'm trying to set it up) as a
community tank (south American). My problem is that the water here has a Ph
of 7.8, and I can't get it to budge. I've tried puttng a bunch of the Ph
lock type products in (all targetted at a Ph of 7.0), ...
Water Changing Overkills26 Jul 2006 13:01 GMT8
I've kept a 75 gal for over a year now.  It holds mostly small species
under 3 inches.  I change out around 20 gallons every week. Some have
told me that I was changing too much water too often.
Should I curb the amount I'm changing?
Aquarium Salt vs Kosher Salt26 Jul 2006 06:42 GMT3
For whatever reason I am unable to find a nearby store that has aquarium
salt in stock.  I do have a huge box of Kosher rock salt on hand whose only
listed ingrediant is "salt" (once used for a brine soaked turkey recipe).
No iodine or whatever is normally put in salt is listed.
Getting tripped up on Betta colors25 Jul 2006 07:52 GMT10
I get tripped up on color distinction between the Royal and Corn-Flower
blue.  The corn-flower blue in the fish world would be Egyptian blue at
the paint store.
Having no idea what a corn flower is or looks like, I need to look for

Without Googling my fingers away...
Just how many "colors" are commonly available, other than the red and blue
strains.
I've seen various greens, yellows, pink...Are they like the Fancy Gupps
Freshwater blue lobster23 Jul 2006 07:37 GMT2
I have a blue freshwater lobster.  I have had it about a year, and
during this time it has molted twice.  During the last molt it lost one
claw.  Will it grow back another claw in the future, or not?
I recall in the past I had another lobster, that during a molt came out

Rec.Aquaria gone???21 Jul 2006 06:51 GMT7
A few people troll this group at least twice a week trying to
determine who's who and who's posting here outside the original "fish
troop".  Then they run a cross-check list through the Google dumpster
dive (free for kids 10 and under).
