Barb with tail damage30 Oct 2006 15:46 GMT4
I have a Rosy Barb with a chunk out it's tail just ahead of the fins. The
wound looks fairly round like an Ulcer or something that popped. But it
could also be an attack from another fish(es). The fish is still active and
eating, but I'm still tempted to pull him out. I've lost a ...

Freshwater / Tropical fish dilemma!30 Oct 2006 05:10 GMT9
Right, after massacring 2 goldfish, 3 fantails and a black moor during my
abortive first attempts at amateur fishkeeping, I've done all my homework
and am now pretty much ready to start over again.
I'm using a 21 litre tank, and have been trying to cycle it for 2 weeks now
my apple snail25 Oct 2006 10:19 GMT5
I wrote last week about my apple nail just floating.  Well, it still is
floating and now the shell which is usually a yellowish color is now getting
speckled white.  I took the snail out and touched it and it moved, so it is
still alive.  But 1-1/2 weeks of constant floating?
Sound transfer from air to Aquarium?24 Oct 2006 11:20 GMT3
I had to suck up some water with the Shop Vac (not fishy related) and I was
expecting the noise to freak out the fish, but they did not seem to react at
all. Does the sound transfer that poorly from the air to the tank? Or does
the frequency of the sound impact their reaction?
do I have perfect water?23 Oct 2006 14:00 GMT6
I haven't tested my water in a while.  Actually I only do a water change
once a month.  I have a little bit of algae but not much.  I just noticed
some red algae on the glass, which I did not have before, so I decided to do
a water test.  Here are my results.  Unless I am wrong, ...
Cross between Gold and Blue Gourami ??22 Oct 2006 04:11 GMT1
We are new to Gourami's. Our experience started with Ponds and gold
fish. It wasn't until we wanted to have some of our fish inside that we
came accross two tanks, with fish for $25. The fish were so nice that
we decided to keep them. They were mostly Gourami's, one big white, a
keeping nitrate levels down20 Oct 2006 13:40 GMT6
i was sold a nitrate removal sachet from the fish shop which did seem
to work, but it says in the box that you need to recharge the sachet,
bu pouring salt water over the bag for one hour and then repeating this
procedure for two hours. is this correct? how can it be done? are there
Activated Charcoal20 Oct 2006 11:12 GMT32
I know what AC is and how it works.  What exactly does it do in an
aquarium?  What is  it adsorbing?  Not the ammonia, NH3 or NH4 is it?
So what?  Color, odor?
Thanks
Silicone Sealant20 Oct 2006 11:06 GMT5
I have a tube of silicone rubber sealant from radio shack, under the archer
brand name.  Is this silicone aquarium safe?  I know you can buy specific
aquarium silicone, but since I have this, I want to know if it can be used.

floating snail19 Oct 2006 01:00 GMT6
I have this new snail.  He was fine for about 6 weeks and now he is boyant.
He is still alive as when I take him out and put him in a glass with shallow
water so he doesn't float, he walks around the glass.  I can't exactly keep
him in the big tank where he can't eat or clean or ...

Please can you ID this UK river fish?18 Oct 2006 12:29 GMT4
My children went to a country park last week and brought home some fish
they caught in the river there (the river Irwell in NW England). We put
the fish in a tank where they seem to be eating well and look healthy.
I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what type of fish these are? ...
Rocks - Water parameters17 Oct 2006 01:46 GMT3
Is keeping rocks in a aquarium safe for the fish. I found a few rocks
similar to the stepped red rocks in walmart & I was not sure if they
would alter my water parameters any way.
Thanks
Clown Locah Question: Fighting? Color Loss17 Oct 2006 01:44 GMT3
I have two clown loaches. They have been fine for months now. This morning I
noticed on has lost its color and is very light complected now. They seem to
be fighting. They keep "hitting" each other on the mouth. Like mouth to
mouth fighting. The light colored on is very aggresive ...
