| Are my baby fish dead!? (And other questions from a beginner). | 27 Dec 2006 17:50 GMT | 5 |
I have 2 questions. Recently I bought a tank and filled it with 3 guppies, 1 potbellied molly, 3 african dwarf frogs, and 1 golden mystery snail. And a bunch of live plants transported from a tank in the store. I know, quite a

| Lighting question | 21 Dec 2006 15:03 GMT | 2 |
I am preparing to upgrade my lighting from a double regular Fluorescent to a double compact fluorescent. I notice that there is a difference between marine applications and freshwater. Marine uses 10,000K bulbs and freshwater uses 6700K bulbs.

| Suitable non-fish companions for Betta? | 21 Dec 2006 04:59 GMT | 6 |
We moved our Betta to a 4 gallon filtered tank because we would like to add some critters. Might add a fish or two later but right now I would like to add something unfishlike but I'm not sure what would be suitable for that small of a tank. Snails? Frogs? Suggestions?

| Sick fish | 18 Dec 2006 22:16 GMT | 10 |
Help ... I bought some angels from Drs Foster (BIG MISTAKE) and my fish are dying off one by one. They show clamped fins, rapid breathing, hang out at the surface and the croak. Water quality was excellent prior to adding the angels.

| tubifex worms in gravel | 18 Dec 2006 20:24 GMT | 9 |
I have what I think are tubifex worms in the gravel. I'm wondering, are these a bad thing? Do they actually pollute the water? Is it a sign that the tank isn't clean enough? What do they eat? How would you normally culture them?

| bizarre unidentified fish..... | 16 Dec 2006 09:10 GMT | 5 |
Hey there, I've just stocked my ultra-small 6gal tank with some nice tropical fish - 6 neons and 2 platys to be precise, and I'm pleased to say they are all happy and interacting fantastically.

| Raising Daphnia | 15 Dec 2006 21:37 GMT | 1 |
A fellow gave me a starter of Daphnia + a couple of snails, which he keeps in big tubs outdoors. Right now I have mine in a tupperware bowl in the house near a window, eventually I'll probably move them to a bucket. He suggested sprinkling some fish food into the container and ...

| SAE weirdness | 14 Dec 2006 23:49 GMT | 2 |
I've got one SAE that's doing the odd quarter rotation while swimming. Seems to be trying to scrape it's side against the gravel. Another SAE also seems to be chasing this same fish. I'm hoping it's some sort of spawning. If so, what can I do to help make/save babies?

| Truly a DAY OF DEATH for fishkeepers... | 14 Dec 2006 19:58 GMT | 4 |
It seems that the last day has not only been bad for James.... while he lost a betta, I've lost two neons in my tank (6 gal, cycled, good quality water, was originally 6 neons and 2 platys). Not a big deal, of course - but I'm wondering if it's my stinky pH, which is

| gold barb - tumor?? | 14 Dec 2006 19:53 GMT | 1 |
One of my gold barbs developed a large lump on its head about a month ago, and it has continued to slowly grow. Now it can't swim and just struggles on the bottom. The strange this is that its hunger, color and activity before the
