Betta question14 Dec 2006 17:06 GMT1
I just got a new Betta for my desk at work, he is in a 1 gallon,
filtered and lighted tank.  For a tank this small, what would you
suggest using (if anything) such as supplements/vitamins/etc. for the
water?   I feed him some betta-min flakes in the AM and a couple
betta problem14 Dec 2006 16:50 GMT3
I have a 2 yr old betta who for the past month kind of just lays around the
bottom, almost always on his side.  He swings only very occasionally in
spurts.  He is eating a little bit.   what's up?

Ok so I have had my first casualty in my tank today, here is a rundown
of events leading to the death of my male betta.

1 male betta, check.  (looks good)
Best way to stick laminate backgrounds?13 Dec 2006 13:48 GMT2
I currently have a tank with a painted (emulsion) background, which i want
to replace for some of that laminate photo stuff which comes on a roll.
I normally prefer painted backgrounds, but in this case we've decided upon
the laminate... the tank has a very large pl*co (14") and ...
Finally13 Dec 2006 00:48 GMT5
Finally after 7 weeks of fishless cycle (see thread started on nov 30) I
have something to show for it.  Here is a pic of my aquarium, and a
couple pics of some of the fish.  (Tetras, betta and platys) i took more
pics of fish but these are the only ones that kinda worked.
CarboPlus11 Dec 2006 21:36 GMT3
I would like to try and pool a discussion about the pros and cons of the
Carboplus device for controlling ph values in a tank. For those not aware
this is a device which claims to make CO2 from an electrolytic process. You
pass electricty across a stainless steel and carbon ...
vacation feeding - fish and frog11 Dec 2006 17:30 GMT13
Hi, I read many older posts which suggest that not giving food for 2
weeks will not harm fish when on vacation. But what about a dwarf frog?
the other denizens in the tank are a couple of guppies, 3 scissors, 2
glass cats, 1 cat fish, 1 algea eater.
Can Plecos live with fish that need salt, like Mollys?10 Dec 2006 18:16 GMT6
I just now received twelve Fancy Black Molly fry and I am wondering, can
young Plecos [2 to 3¹/² inches] handle the one tablespoon per gallon
of salt?  I know that Corys can't,....Can Plecos?~Dean.
new tank09 Dec 2006 02:20 GMT5
Well, sort of. I took down my cichlid tank and put the
cichlids in with the turtles. Then I got very melancholy
about the pretty tiny fish I haven't had since I went to
saltwater and big cichlids, soooo all the bricks I hauled to

Water changes & Temperature Fluctuations08 Dec 2006 19:00 GMT22
Hey everyone
So now that my tank is cycled, i have another question before i add fish
regarding water temperature when changing water.
When i changed my water i filled my 20L jug with tap water (very cold)
Secrets the Pet Stores Don't Want You to Know08 Dec 2006 18:58 GMT9
Many pet stores unfortunately just see the money involved and couldn't
care less about the animals they sell. That's why they cram bettas into
those tiny cups. More bettas in more tiny cups means more money for
them.
Large Water Changes When Playing With Water Chemistry08 Dec 2006 12:51 GMT18
I was wondering if any of you take any special precautions when adding
tap water that has different chemistry than the tank water.
I'm assuming it would be important to either *not* do a large water
change *or* to add water very slowly, over a period of time when one
Parasite Problem08 Dec 2006 12:48 GMT3
I am going to cross post here as this was an interesting post elsewhere
from a site I trade links to.
>1.  Could a batch of blackworms include intestinal fish parasites?
Yes, I always rinsed mine and lately have tried usnea or metronidazole
pH dilemma....08 Dec 2006 12:43 GMT9
Hey there, the saga continues...
I have had my 23 litre tank for 4 weeks now with one goldfish in it, and now
it seems to be fully cycled. There's a plant in there, the fish is extra
happy, and I've been adding bacteria every so often too.
