What happened?31 Jul 2003 17:23 GMT3
I was visiting my friend today who has 7(!) goldfish in a 40 gallon
tank. He lives beside the river and I collected some plants and snails
for my river tank. We put one piece of elodea in his tank for the fish
to eat and 2 largish snails.
Tropical -> Goldfish... Cross-Contamination?31 Jul 2003 17:22 GMT4
I am running two tanks now (one tropical and one for fancy goldfish).  Is
there any risk of cross-contamination (of harmful bacteria or diseases) if I
were to use the same cleaning tools on both aquariums?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Help with tropical fish RE Bloodworm feeding?31 Jul 2003 15:59 GMT2
Does anyone know about feeding with Bloodworms (frozen)? I was suggested
this at the petstore, bought some, but I'm a little lost on the best way to
go it. He said to put some into a small cup and add water. Is there a
recommended amount? My 20 gallon has 8 fish ranging from 1-2.5 ...

Lately, I have noticed a lot of air bubbles sticking to the sides of
the aquarium.
I have 2 air pump of each 1800litres/hour capacity for my 50 gallons

Fantail Gold Fish29 Jul 2003 14:46 GMT1
I recently bought a new tank for 2 fantail goldfish because their
original tank looked way too small (the gf brought them to our new
house from her parents) and i've put a fuval2 with no heater in. I
don't know anything about these fish appart from they seem very hardy.
missing scales26 Jul 2003 12:38 GMT2
My "largest" goldfish (3 to 4 inches long) is missing about 4 small scales
on both sides of its body about midway between the head and tail.  Its in a
29g tank with two much smaller goldfish (no other tank occupants).  Its look
and behavior is normal and has been for the 8 months ...

floating upside down and white coating25 Jul 2003 09:33 GMT1
Well I had orandas for the last 15 years and it never gave me troubles until
the last months.
First I had the floating up side down and lost several fish, even with the
85 degrees water temperatur plus the epsom salt. Now, lately fish start
Browna nd green algea24 Jul 2003 17:45 GMT3
I have been running my tank now for about a month and I noticed today that
there is some green algae forming a little bit on some of the rock on the
bottom but also quite a bit of brown algae too. I did a partial water change
the other day and there was only a little but it seems to ...
What's your biggest goldfish concern?24 Jul 2003 13:37 GMT2
Hey people,
I want to start raising goldfish.  But I'm still doing research – so
when I get the fish, they won't die.
I would just like to know, as goldfish owners:
Newbie fish disaster at hand24 Jul 2003 09:32 GMT3
My recent attempt to maintain 1 little goldfish has been frought with
disaster despite a fair amount of reading and help from reputable
petshops. I purchased a single gallon tank with gravel filter and
airstone. Despite what I'd read about a larger (10 gal) per fish tank,
Old bio-wheel24 Jul 2003 05:06 GMT2
The bio-wheel for my old tank's filter is too small for the new filter on my
new tank and there isn't a place on the new tank to hang the small filter.
Would putting the bio-wheel in a cheese cloth and sinking that in the new
tank keep it "seasoned" in case of an emergency need for ...

Nitrate removing filter media23 Jul 2003 12:49 GMT1
Is there such a thing as filter media that removes nitrates from the
freshwater aquarium water?  I have a bio-wheel filter that has "media
baskets" which I can stick anything into in addition to slide in filters.
Thanks,
