help!07 Aug 2003 16:05 GMT3
My partner has a small cold water tank with just two fish in that I'm
currently looking after. the fish are (I think) ornadas (?) , one black one
gold and white. When I went tot he tank this morning the black one seemed to
be trapped under the airstone. (He forages in the gravel). ...
filter cleaning07 Aug 2003 15:06 GMT2
In the last few days I've read a couple of times that cleaning the filter
with tap water kills all the good bio-bugs. Is this true of any water (say,
untreated well water), or just chlorinated water? Once and a while I give
the filter a quick rinse to get the yeech off the back, but ...
Fat ryukin07 Aug 2003 03:53 GMT4
I have a medium-sized ryukin, that recently seems to have put on weight.
Although he/she seems happy enough I am worried that there might be
something wrong. His/her belly seems swollen and uncommonly rounded, now
more like my pearlscale's shape than before and the scales seem to be
Rescued some goldfish from certain death06 Aug 2003 05:51 GMT3
Just a couple days ago, I was coming out of my apartment at about 8:15
a.m. and saw the most hideous sight. The new neighbor who had moved in
2 days previously had put out a half empty 8 or 10 gallon (small!)
aquarium on his balcony. I knew that this thing had been out there the
bloodworms?06 Aug 2003 03:43 GMT2
Are bloodworms an acceptible part of a Goldfish diet?
Nipping fish05 Aug 2003 12:35 GMT1
I have two ryunkins in a 20 gallon tank.  The tank is cycled.  One goldfish
has been nipping at the others tail now for a few days, and the nippee has
almost no tail left.  They are small goldfish and just seem to always swim
near one another and then nip the other.  I am having bad ...
Just what happens when you overfeed a comet?05 Aug 2003 02:46 GMT3
Besides the obvious problems with the water, do goldfish really get
love handles if fed too much?    My two comets are so pathetic that each
time I walk by they both race to the same corner every time, open their
mouths wide, acting like they have not been fed in weeks....
What's The Best Power Filter?03 Aug 2003 22:57 GMT2
I'm in the market for a new filter for my fancy goldfish tank...  It's a 33
gallon tank, and I do plan to upgrade to a 100 gallon tank in December (so I
want a filter that I can swap-out).
I am currently running an Eclipse 3 (Marineland) filter system, and it's not
sitting at bottom03 Aug 2003 15:53 GMT4
One of my fantails (4 years old) has been periodically sitting on the bottom
of the tank for the last few days. He swims about every so often, then
returns to the same corner of the tank and sits there for a while before
going off for another swim again. He has also been yawning ...
Best Goldfish Identification site?02 Aug 2003 23:18 GMT2
Fantails, Ryukins, Orandas, Moors, Pearlscale, Celestials,
Dragon-eye..... and then there are the Koi, Sanke, Tri-colour,
butterfly.... *whew*
Is there a website which has pictures and clearly identifies the
Feeder fish picking02 Aug 2003 17:29 GMT2
Hi, I had a feeder fish and a fantail in my aquarium but after I added
3 new fishes - oranda, black moor and a fantail, my feeder fish is
picking on the new fishes. Any advice. Should I take out the feeder
fish?
Alternative foods for goldfish01 Aug 2003 16:46 GMT5
Other than store purchased foods, what other foods can be fed to goldfish?
From what I've researched on the web I've heard of the following:
* peas (tried this and the fish love it)
* carrots (tried this also and the fish won't touch it)
Moor with white patch01 Aug 2003 12:09 GMT1
My Moor has developed a white patch on his 'chin' area.  It is like
somebody has runned the colour away.
The texture of the skin looks okay.  I cannot see any lumps or bumps.
Has anybody ever heard of this and if so what it it?

Strange eye condition?01 Aug 2003 01:07 GMT5
I'm hoping that you can help me as one of my goldfish has developed a
strange eye condition. Basically, he is absolutely fine in himself, feeding,
moving nicely, seems normal enough.
One eye has become very small and has only a very small amount of black
