Algae in the tank30 Sep 2003 23:54 GMT9
We seem to have algae suddenly growing like there is no tomorrow in our
goldfish tank.  Am I doing something wrong?  I clean the glass regularly and
just completed a 25% water change.  There is much algae on the plants
(plastic) and tank decorations, which I recently cleaned.  I do ...
Betta bubble nest30 Sep 2003 22:52 GMT3
Hi all - about a week ago I moved my betta into a 5 gallon tank where he alone
resides. This made him so happy he's covered half the surface with a bubble
nest. My question is...how do I clean it off without dumping out all the water?
Should I scoop with a net?
Nitrosonomas and Nitrobacter Appearance?30 Sep 2003 19:14 GMT1
Cleaned out my Aquaclear filter out of my 2 month old
Aquarium yesterday and noticed something strange when I rinsed out
the sponge. The crud was dark grass green as oposed to brown or black,
like in my other similar filters of my older tanks. Are there different

My parents are thinking of going on holidays maybe next year.
If I were to go on holidays how do I feed my goldfish?
plecostomus29 Sep 2003 22:50 GMT3
My sister has a tank that contains a plecostomus.  She has had him for a
very long time and does not want to get rid of him.  She would however like
to add a couple of fancy goldfish for her young son to enjoy.  Will this
combination work???  Thanks.

i have been keeping lion head gold fish for almost a year. i have encounted

them are pregnant, but how can I tell?

Blood Worms29 Sep 2003 11:26 GMT3
I saw some packets of live blood worms in my local pet shop and was thinking
of getting some for my 3 goldfish.
The worms were in (presumably) blood (well the liquid was very red anyway!),
does it matter if any of this blood gets in to the tank?
two sick fantails29 Sep 2003 11:25 GMT4
I really need some help. I've had two fantail goldfish for about five years
now, and have never had to deal with any diseases until now, and I'm unsure
what to do.
Two weeks ago the smaller orange fantail was sitting in a corner of the
Newbie asks: prepare change water in advance?28 Sep 2003 23:33 GMT1
I just set up my first 10-gal goldfish tank last week and intend to change
out 2 gals  per week.  Right now I'm in the "cloudy water" bacteria bloom
stage.
Is it OK to change water before cycling is complete, or should I wait?
courgettes/zucchini28 Sep 2003 14:11 GMT1
My LFS suggested that to deter GF attacks on my plants, I put a hunk of
courgette (zucchini to the US?) in.  So far, it seems to work well (the fish
seem to enjoy the change), however the LFS's courgette was sunk, mine
floats.  Although this is OK for my GF, they enjoy attacking the ...

Bubble Eyed Goldfish27 Sep 2003 15:28 GMT5
I got a Bubble Eyed goldfish about 3 weeks ago and put it in with my
tropical fish (consisting of 3 angle fish and some kind of gravel eater)
I was worried the angel fish were going to peck at the bubble but they
havn't been... I think they're a little scared of it because its ...
Flipover-ed Oranda?27 Sep 2003 15:27 GMT2
Hello...
I've got two small-medium goldfish in a 25 gallon tank (ranchu and oranda,
Aquaclear 200 filter, one apple snail that stays out the of the way, water
heated to be in high 70s, tank set up for almost two years). The fish are
Purposely sinking food?27 Sep 2003 15:24 GMT3
One of my common goldfish all nut refuses to eat floating food at the
top of the tank. However, she's quite happy to scour food from the
gravel and eat food that sinks. It concerns me slightly that she eats
a fair amount less than all the others, even my small veiltail. Is it
