I had posted about my big oranda and how he had been either sitting on the bottom, or hovering up at the top of the tank. I took him out and put him in a 6 gallon tank for 5 days, changing the water every day, all water treated with CopperSafe. He was just fine, and got put back ...

Are Goldfish best left alone in a tank or are there any other varieties I can mix with them. we have a tank which holds 54litres of water, we also have air pump, filter. (also a light and heater which is not currently used).

We have some friends that moved into a house where the owners were moving several thousand kilometres away, so they didn't take their fish with them. We've never raised goldfish before, but we didn't want the fish to die, and we certainly liked the idea of having a tank.

Is it normal that the goldfish is resting, don't move at all, for about 1-2min ? It is not sitting at the bottom, just stand there in the water.

Anyone have experience with orandas and how long it takes them to develop the membranes on their heads? I've read that usually by the time they're 3" or so they should start to develop. Also, are there foods that would help it grow?
