i have a 25 gallon tank with 4 small goldfish. I Think the nitrite is kind of high. the tank has a bio-wheel and has been running for about 6 weeks. I did a 2 20% water changes this week and the nitrites are still high. will this go away soon?

A year has gone past, and some. It started out so innocently. The question "shall we get a pet?" cropped up, and since we live in rented accommodation, I couldn't have a cat.

I have got two goldfish and two others called chocolate pom pom and the pet shop said to feed them once every other day but the food says 2 or 3 times a day is there anyone who has these fish who could let me know how often they feed there fish?

I've got the new 50 gal filled, the filter running, and am waiting for the temp to come up. I put in the castle and troll and some of the glass marbles from the 10 gal tank, and threw in the old filter (rinsed the gross big stuff off with a little cold, non-chlorinated well water ...

We own two goldfish and on Christmas Eve one of them seemed to fall ill overnight. The head became swollen, the gills red inside, the dorsal fin was flat to the body and the tail was clamped. The fish has very restricted movement and often falls over onto it's side momentarily ...

I'd like to replace my cartridges with plain ol' cotton batting, but of course my Penguin manual says their cartridges are essential. Would removing the carbon be harmful or not? Should I stagger their removal (have 3 total in 2 different filters)?

I've just started my first aquarium and have a couple of very young comets and a common goldfish in a 10Gal tank with a Fluval 1+ internal filter. I've noticed that after about 4 days I get a gradual build up of algae on the glass and have been told to get myself an "algae scrubber" ...
