Spawning or playing?05 Jan 2004 20:21 GMT4
Since the recent seperation of my chocolate oranda, my two goldfish
have been obviously missing her.  However, recently, they seem to have
begun acting normal(ish) again.  But I'm a little worried.
My goldfish has lost a couple of scales and is chasing the shubunkin,
My first 1.5 years in fish keeping & the costs when you do everything wrong [LONG]05 Jan 2004 18:14 GMT4
A year has gone past, and some.
It started out so innocently.  The question "shall we get a pet?"
cropped up, and since we live in rented accommodation, I couldn't have
a cat.

Moving fish to new tank04 Jan 2004 15:41 GMT23
I've got the new 50 gal filled, the filter running, and am waiting for the
temp to come up. I put in the castle and troll and some of the glass marbles
from the 10 gal tank, and threw in the old filter (rinsed the gross big
stuff off with a little cold, non-chlorinated well water ...

Various Symptoms04 Jan 2004 02:40 GMT19
We own two goldfish and on Christmas Eve one of them seemed to fall ill
overnight. The head became swollen, the gills red inside, the dorsal fin was
flat to the body and the tail was clamped. The fish has very restricted
movement and often falls over onto it's side momentarily ...
Getting rid of Penguin carbon cartridges03 Jan 2004 16:11 GMT2
I'd like to replace my cartridges with plain ol' cotton batting, but of course
my Penguin manual says their cartridges are essential.
Would removing the carbon be harmful or not?
Should I stagger their removal (have 3 total in 2 different filters)?
Goldie Hiding in Ornament03 Jan 2004 05:11 GMT5
I have 2 small gf, in a 20G.  They arived 4 mos. ago were about the same size,
one bigger now.  Smaller one just started going in (and staying in, I think) a

smaller one lately,so the smaller one is pretty ...
Tank glass cleaning frequency03 Jan 2004 03:14 GMT2
I've just started my first aquarium and have a couple of very young comets
and a common goldfish in a 10Gal tank with a Fluval 1+ internal filter.
I've noticed that after about 4 days I get a gradual build up of algae on
the glass and have been told to get myself an "algae scrubber" ...
Here we go again...03 Jan 2004 03:12 GMT9
My chocolate oranda seems to be developing yet another boil in the same
place.  I can see the scales beginning to lift again.
What product should I add to the water? I've been told that the stuff I
added to the water last time was Anti Internal Bacteria No 9 from
Body of Fancy Goldfish scales came off, red patches, sores and turning black from Gold03 Jan 2004 03:11 GMT3

Help! Power Out, Filter did not reprime!.02 Jan 2004 05:55 GMT7
Lost power last night, 55gal Aquaclear 500 did not reprime itself.
I figure it was out for at least 6 hours before I had to manually restart
it.
I'm worried about H2S or anerobics getting out into the tank. there are 10
phoenix tail egg goldfish question02 Jan 2004 05:01 GMT4
I just bought a phoenix tail egg goldfish (currently under quarantine) and was wondering what other goldfish breeds are compatible with it?  I currently have a couple of very active orandas, one pearlscale, and a ranchu in a 55 gallon tank.  The orandas, pearlscale, and ranchu ...
