Well its freezing and sunny here in NYC and we are lucky enough to have
south and east exposures. In the cold weather, we keep the blinds up a
little more often than in the hot summer when we tend to keep them closed.
The tank is not in a window.  It gets mostly indirect light.

Time to change my Bi-Orb...advice needed on fish relocation...20 Feb 2004 09:34 GMT6
I came here a few months ago and had lots of help when a fish in my biorb
had dropsy. I felt bad as I had four very small goldfish in there and it was
clearly too many.
Ok, so now I have three and despite trying to keep it in order, one is

My black moor as over the last day developed a white dot above each of his
eyes.  Could this be "white spot" or is it a white dot for mating season?
Thanks

RIP - Flipper19 Feb 2004 00:00 GMT4
He/She fought the good fight and lost.
He had been in a hospital tank for quite a while.
With red lips, which seemed to get better. Then I came home
from work one day and he looked like a pinecone.
Injury to Black Moor.  Do I need to do anything?18 Feb 2004 15:08 GMT6
My Black Moor managed to squeeze himself down beside my fake tree
stump and got himself caught there.  I freed him and moved the stump
to avoid further problems.  All seemed well.  However, a few days
later it became obvious that he has scrapped himself up.  He has
Little Fish- Big Fish16 Feb 2004 15:30 GMT2
I have two small goldfish that I hatched last year, they're about 3 inches
long each (including tails).  I want to put them in with my big fish, which
range in size from 5 to 8 inches in length (including tails).
If I do this now, will the little guys get picked on by the big ones?  ...
How to restart (after a huge disaster)15 Feb 2004 20:30 GMT18
I was given a couple of goldfish (a bubble eye and another one
which was orange and white) by my officemate about five months ago
together with a 10 gallon tank and some very basic starter equipment. I
didn't know anything much about goldfish at all and made some huge
Lost him14 Feb 2004 13:21 GMT16
Well, I fought the good fight, but the ailing gold fish died last night.
(and is now waiting spring burial in my freezer - I have a 5 year old.)
I will go to the local pet super store for a water test, but really suspect
that he was just ready to go. (And a test kit for home - I ...
african dwarf frogs [wrong forum, I know]14 Feb 2004 04:41 GMT2
I'm thinking about getting a couple of african dwarf frogs for my
(non-goldfish) tank. Everything I'm coming across online says a 1+ gallon tan
is fine for them. I guess I'm too used to the goldfish, but doesn't this seem
too small??

Symptoms of old age11 Feb 2004 13:40 GMT11
Is there any way to tell when a goldfish is just getting "old"?
I realize that they can live a long time.  These aren't fancies - just plain
old "comet" types. The larger one appears to a have a decent slime coat,
fins are not clamped and the gills are a nice red,  but he appears to ...
