Well its freezing and sunny here in NYC and we are lucky enough to have south and east exposures. In the cold weather, we keep the blinds up a little more often than in the hot summer when we tend to keep them closed. The tank is not in a window. It gets mostly indirect light.

I came here a few months ago and had lots of help when a fish in my biorb had dropsy. I felt bad as I had four very small goldfish in there and it was clearly too many. Ok, so now I have three and despite trying to keep it in order, one is

| RIP - Flipper | 19 Feb 2004 00:00 GMT | 4 |
He/She fought the good fight and lost. He had been in a hospital tank for quite a while. With red lips, which seemed to get better. Then I came home from work one day and he looked like a pinecone.

| Injury to Black Moor. Do I need to do anything? | 18 Feb 2004 15:08 GMT | 6 |
My Black Moor managed to squeeze himself down beside my fake tree stump and got himself caught there. I freed him and moved the stump to avoid further problems. All seemed well. However, a few days later it became obvious that he has scrapped himself up. He has

I have two small goldfish that I hatched last year, they're about 3 inches long each (including tails). I want to put them in with my big fish, which range in size from 5 to 8 inches in length (including tails). If I do this now, will the little guys get picked on by the big ones? ...

I'm thinking about getting a couple of african dwarf frogs for my (non-goldfish) tank. Everything I'm coming across online says a 1+ gallon tan is fine for them. I guess I'm too used to the goldfish, but doesn't this seem too small??

| Symptoms of old age | 11 Feb 2004 13:40 GMT | 11 |
Is there any way to tell when a goldfish is just getting "old"? I realize that they can live a long time. These aren't fancies - just plain old "comet" types. The larger one appears to a have a decent slime coat, fins are not clamped and the gills are a nice red, but he appears to ...
