| Fish lying on side | 04 Feb 2004 20:15 GMT | 5 |
My 7" fantail showed symptoms of a bacterial infection some weeks ago, probably caused by a newcomer to the tank. (yes, the newcomer had been thoroughly quarantined--details available on request. At this point it just seems like bad luck.)

| how to protect fish in an outdoors fishtank against raccoons? | 04 Feb 2004 11:57 GMT | 10 |
My parents have two fishtanks too large to be placed inside the house, so they set them up in the backyard. In them they had some 20 different fish, big and small, that they took care of everyday. But this morning when they went out to the yard, they found the fishtanks ...

| Newbie question. | 04 Feb 2004 10:06 GMT | 5 |
I've got 2 goldfish, who live in a normal plastic tank with no lighting, no filters, no stuff like that. Just a see through plastic tank thing, with stones on the bottom, a little sign, and that's it. I got them when I was a child, you see, so not exactly an enthusiast ;)

I've had my goldfish for about 2 years... the eldest one has started to turn black, I also have a beta fish, a few zebra fish and a swordtail fish... none of these or the other goldfish seem to be turning black... Is it some sort of fungi? or is it just changing colours??

| aeromonas | 01 Feb 2004 22:55 GMT | 9 |
I was OT from the original thread , sorry for that. The old thread addressed live foods, infections in goldfish, ie tubifex worms and aeromonas bacteria. The aeromonas species is of the types that are known to be pathogenic to goldfish.

33Gallon with Aquaclear 300, well filtered and cycled (over 1 year), I do a 25% water/gravel siphon once a week with 48hr air stone aged temp matched water with recommended dechlorinator. There are seven 1"-2" Goldfish in the tank.
