I need help getting an aquarium going.   This is our first aquarium,

The problem started when the kids called from a visit to the
grandparents to tell us that grand dad would buy them each a gold fish

Can goldfish see color?06 Mar 2004 21:23 GMT6
Lately I've been feeding mashed green peas to my goldfish. They don't seem
to be able to see the rather large pieces of mashed peas. They forage around
the bottom of the tank picking up pebbles and spitting them out as usual. If
they do pick up a piece of the pea, they will swallow ...
white spots on hood only06 Mar 2004 19:14 GMT5
I bought three 3-3.5 inch orandas about a month ago, and since then they've
been developing white spots on their hoods. They are in a 29 gallon tank
with an undergravel filter along with one other 2 inch black moor. I am
quite new to goldfish keeping so I am not sure what this ...
Cher has a zit06 Mar 2004 04:36 GMT10
No, this isn't celebrity spam- last night when I came home, Cher the
shubunkin had a volcano on her side, spewing white yuck. It didn't inhibite
her usual piggy feeding. This AM, the volcano is still visible as a
swelling, but it is no longer spewing. It's the only spot on her, the ...

Whats the general strategy for goldfish bullying others?
I've got 2 goldfish .. one a white fantail, the other an orange fantail.
The orange fish is new to the tank (also has 4 zebra danios), and is about
half the size of the white one .. The white one has always been a pretty

I drop my beloved oranda 30 minutes ago. It fall about 4 feet to hardwood
floor. The fish is about 4 inch long without tail and it is fat. It is
swimming in the tank now and I am wondering what I can do to save it or it
is a gonner soon. Help :-(

Buying a used tank04 Mar 2004 03:31 GMT4
I'm thinking about buying a used 125 gallon which comes complete with lighting
and 2 Fluval 304s.
Anyone ever buy a used tank before...if so did it work out okay? (by that I
mean your fish didn't get sick, etc.)
Dissolved Oxygen test kits04 Mar 2004 02:48 GMT3
Anyone had any experience using these?  Can recommend a brand?  Know what
the ideal O2 levels are for goldfish?
I've been toying with the idea of using real plants, so I would have to stop
using my air pump at least during the day.  But I still want to make sure
algae03 Mar 2004 22:34 GMT5
You've probably heard and answered this question a thousand times, but here
goes...How do you get rid of algae? At first I tried chemicals, then putting
plants in to compete with it, but it wins every time. I have the light on
for 8-12 hours a day. I have a 40ltr tank with 3 ...
