Do you name your goldfish?23 May 2004 00:14 GMT10
Just curious how many of you give your goldfish names and, if you do, what
their names are and how you went about choosing names.
We have four orandas, one for each of us in our family. Each person got to
choose their own fish from the store and give it a name. My 5 year old

Everyone on the list helped me out last week with my water problems.  I did
the 50% changes for 3 days, removed all the ornaments, etc. and everythign
was fine.  My problem fish is acting up again.  He was fine for the first
few days after the major changes, and is now back to ...
Fry Observation and a question21 May 2004 17:03 GMT4
I am "hospitaling" a few fantail goldfish, and they laid some eggs.  I
took the chunk of algae the eggs were in to another tank that had been
pretty much idle.
I have seen 24 fry so far, and not one with a double tail.  Seems like
Goldfish appears to be seriously ill21 May 2004 14:12 GMT4
I have 2 goldfish, one about 8 inches nose to tail and one about 6 inches.
They are approximately 8 years old.  They are kept in a 140 litre tank with
an ehiem external filter, airstone & heater (about 22 celcius).  Nitrates,
Nitrites and Amonia are all below measurable levels. The ...
Evil, evil snails21 May 2004 14:00 GMT35
Hi, all;
How does one get rid of those *(%&! mystery snails that come in with
plants?!??! I thought I was rid of them,  changed the filters, sorted
through all the sea weed, did three peroxide dips on the fish to get rid of
Fresh water mussel death21 May 2004 08:57 GMT3
I've had a fresh water mussel co-habitating with 3 goldfish for over 2
years.  Today I've come home from work to find the mussel's shell (some 5 to
7 cm's across) competely empty and a small piece of it's flesh about the
size of a pea sitting on the bottom of the tank.  Is it ...

Veiltail tail problem20 May 2004 17:56 GMT8
A couple weeks back things got really busy at work, and I let the
water quality in the tank slip. The ammonia and nitrites stayed at
zero, but nitrates elevated to over 80ppm, and alkalinity and pH
dropped.
molly mating19 May 2004 21:20 GMT1
My mollies have been in the "act" of mating for the past 2 months.  Can they
decide when to "become" pregnant, or does it take a longer amount of time
before the babies are born?

Yes, when the goldfishes are big enough, I will shredder them, dry the
remains and remove the gold.

White spot on goldfish's head and white deposits on aquiarium lid18 May 2004 15:07 GMT1
I have two small 2" golfish in a tank with a filter which have been

Just yesterday, I noticed that the larger of the fish had a white
spot on it's head and this morning I also noticed a white chalky
Water change frequency with sparsely filled tanks18 May 2004 15:03 GMT1
Okay, so we're moving to a new house, and we've decided to give our 4
goldfish lots of space. We're buying 2 50G tanks. In one tank, we'll
have the two commons, and in the other we'll keep the two veiltails.
Right now, the veiltails get a lot of water changes. Their 15G tank is
